Summary/Objective: To provide service and maintenance on residential heating and air conditioning, electrical, and plumbing systems according to company standards providing the customer with a high- quality experience. Inform and educate the customer of maintenance agreement options, accessories, and work on generating additional leads for the business. Assist with training of technicians Levels 1 – 2.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Qualifications/Experience
- Must be able to perform all duties of a Level 1 – 2 technician
- Must pass drug and background screens
- Valid driver’s license and insurable through company insurance carrier
- Able to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work with tools used in the job in a safe manner
- Completion of HVAC training program - preferred
- EPA Certified or obtain within 3 months of hire
- Minimum of 6 months HVAC service work
- Boiler experience - preferred
Duties
- Must be able to perform all duties of Level 1 - 2 Technician
- Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times
- Arrive at jobsite at scheduled time and location as dispatched
- Relocate from one jobsite to another jobsite as dispatched during the workday
- Report to dispatcher when arriving and leaving jobsite
- Operate company vehicle safely, obeying all traffic laws
- Follow instructions from supervisor and/or dispatcher and carry out in timely manner
- Report problems with company tools or vehicles promptly
- Report problems with personal tools for possible replacement
- Report problems with equipment to Service Dispatcher to expedite parts delivery
- Communicate with customers and collect C.O.D. on maintenance service visits as directed
- Ability to work staggered schedule if required
- Gather information about replacement needs and inform dispatch so they can schedule an estimate appointment
- Inform and educate customers about residential planned maintenance agreements
- Inform and educate customers on additional products or services available through company
- Inform customer of replacement options following company guidelines
- Develop basic knowledge of electrical refrigeration principles
- Develop basic knowledge of service tools and testing devices

- Perform filter changes utilizing filter checklist paperwork unassisted
- Develop skills to perform planned maintenance on residential systems utilizing maintenance checklist with assistance of a Service Technician level 3 or higher

- Complete all service-related forms properly
- Attend training/ meet training requirements as set by the company
- Continuing education – 20 hours a year
- Develop basic knowledge and ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints
- On call status for emergency service as required
- Develop basic knowledge and ability to install basic water heater replacements
- Develop basic knowledge and ability to layout and install low voltage wiring
- Develop basic knowledge of diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques of HVAC
- Develop knowledge of proper interpretations of testing devices
- Purchase / Maintain required tool list for Service Technician Level 3

Work Environment: Environment consists of extreme variations due to conditions, including but not limited to: heat, cold, wet, wind, sunlight, absence of light, insects, animals, mammals, reptiles and other conditions deemed by worksite.
Physical Demands: Reaching, bending, stooping, walking, sitting, crawling, squatting. Holding, carrying objects and lifting – including heavy objects such as equipment up to 100 pounds. Use of tools and equipment such as hand tools and ladders including extension ladders. Use of visions abilities include, close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Must be able to hear and speak. Must be able to work in small or confined work spaces.
Achievements required to advance to Level 4 Service Technician
- Demonstration of Level 3 Essential Job Duties
- Possess standard diagnostic technician tools as set by employer

- At minimum, 150 accessories sold and / or $50,000 in accessory revenue generated
- 100 maintenance agreements sold or renewed
