Job Summary and Qualifications
The Corporate Director of Operations for Patient Logistics Centers provides strategic and operational leadership across five field locations, with responsibility for advancing operational performance, standardization, and integration across the Patient Logistics Centers (PLCs). The role leads the implementation of new programs, processes, and functions and provides corporate oversight of labor and productivity, process improvement, acquisition and service integration, technology strategy, and emergency preparedness.
Working within a highly matrixed environment, the Corporate Director partners closely with Enterprise leaders, PLC field and corporate leadership, and the Corporate AVP of Patient Logistics Centers to align operational and clinical priorities. As the PLC service line continues to evolve, this role is responsible for driving collaboration, consistency, and scalable operational practices across the organization.
The Corporate Director serves as a key contributor to the development, planning, and execution of strategic PLC initiatives and represents the department on cross-functional and Enterprise initiatives alongside the Corporate VP and AVP. The role owns assigned internal initiatives, serves as a lead business partner for PLC technology initiatives, and uses operational data and performance metrics to identify opportunities, measure outcomes, and ensure achievement of PLC service line and Company goals.
What you will do in this role:
- Key Contributor to the development, planning, and execution of Patient Logistics Centers programs and projects
- Leads in collaboration with Patient Logistics Centers field leaders all integration tactics for new facility or access point acquisitions made by the Company, including onboarding of new Patient Logistics Centers acquisitions
- Supports efforts needed by Corporate VP in the expansions or consolidations of Patient Logistics Centers locations, and alignment needs with corporate level departments for optimal integration
- Collaborates with the data analyst team in implementation of the Patient Logistics Centers reporting/data optimization and standardization efforts for business operations and the expansion of reporting needed for additional functions such as PLC BH, Central Patient Placement (CPP), and transportation strategies.
- Supports all aspects of the Patient Logistics Centers emergency preparedness programs, collaborating with Corporate AVP when clinical input and decision making is needed to ensure proper alignment
- Supports the onboarding and development of new Patient Logistics Centers leaders and operations analysts in partnership with field leadership, including site visits for hands-on work when needed
- Drives alignment with key service lines, business areas, departments, and programs to support HCA and Patient Logistics Centers and to increase collaboration for growth across HCA
- Presents at hospital, division, and corporate level meetings when needed or as substitute for Corporate VP & AVP
- Supports all other duties as assigned by the Corporate AVP of Operations for the Patient Logistics Centers, with frequent interaction and assignments from HCA senior leadership
What requirements you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7-10 years relevant work experience
- 3-7 years managerial experience
- Patient Logistics Centers operations experience preferred
- Strategic insight: The ability to be strategic in bringing ideas to the leadership table
- Emotional intelligence: To lead meetings and make decisions independently at the customer’s level
- Business Acumen: Strong business acumen of the hospital industry, service lines, and Patient Logistics Centers operations. Demonstrated knowledge about healthcare and specifically HCA’s core businesses
- Leadership: Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams through influence, collaboration, coaching, and feedback without direct reporting authority
- Continuous Improvement: Organizing and managing activities associated with continuous improvement in the Patient Logistics Centers organization. Supports specific critical continuous improvement efforts
- Managing multiple tasks/responsibilities: Managing and achieving a multitude of objectives simultaneously in an effective manner to meet deadlines and balance the workload for successful meeting of expectations and overall work output
- Training Skills: Exhibits good training skills. Promotes adoption of Patient Logistics Centers initiatives across the organization
- Analytical Skills & Decision Making: Skilled at researching complex issues and providing alternatives, benefits, and risks
- Senior Leader Support and Interaction: Ability to interact with HCA’s senior leaders and work with all levels of management of the company
