Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Chaplain, you will work with all hospital departments and personnel to provide spiritual guidance and emotional support during illness, injury and/or emergency to patients, family members, visitors, hospital staff, and physicians. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will advocate for a patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions and will demonstrate caring and empathy in all interactions.
- You will provide visitations and spiritual support to patients, family members, and employees
- You will aim to reduce anxiety and fear, mediate conflict, and offer prayer when appropriate
- You will serve as a liaison to community churches and clergy members on behalf of the hospital, including the coordination of patient visits
- You will document services and significant interactions in the patient record
- You will function as a contact to the Ethics Committee
- You will provide assistance with crisis intervention measures where appropriate
- You will provide guidance with advanced directives and ethical issues of patients and families
- You will formulate programs and policies to meet the spiritual needs of the organization
What qualifications you will need:
- Previous experience working in a hospital setting as a Chaplain – preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in area of expertise from an accredited institution
- 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE)
- Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) completed in a hospital setting – preferred
- Masters of Divinity – preferred
- 1 years experience Required Years of Experience
