Job Summary and Qualifications
The PCT Operations Manager serves as the facility leader for Patient Care Technician (PCT) workforce engagement, development, retention, and career advancement. The manager provides leadership for the PCT workforce program, including career coaching and pathway navigation, colleague engagement, workforce development, onboarding support, and retention strategies. The role maintains regular engagement with PCT colleagues and partners with nursing leadership, Clinical Education, Workforce Development, Human Resources, and other stakeholders to identify and remove barriers to participation, development, advancement, and retention. Through workforce insights, program metrics, and colleague feedback, the PCT Operations Manager supports a highly engaged, developed, and sustainable PCT workforce aligned with facility and division objectives.
Responsibilities of the PCT Operations Manager:
• Manages the PCT workforce program across the facility, ensuring consistent execution of workforce engagement, development, retention, and career advancement strategies.
• Builds a competitively superior PCT workforce through developing, engaging, and retaining talent and supporting meaningful opportunities for professional growth.
• Oversees career pathway initiatives for PCTs and Lead PCTs, including career coaching, mentoring, development planning, succession planning, advancement into Lead PCT roles, and progression into allied health and other identified career pathways.
• Conducts structured career and development conversations with PCT colleagues to identify career interests, development needs, advancement goals, and barriers to progression.
• Maintains ongoing follow-up with participating colleagues to support progress, address barriers, and encourage completion of development plans and career pathway activities.
• Establishes regular touchpoints with PCT colleagues to gather feedback and identify trends affecting engagement, retention, development, advancement, and the colleague experience.
• Partners with nursing leadership and other appropriate stakeholders to communicate workforce trends, address identified opportunities, and remove barriers affecting the PCT workforce.
• Partners with nursing leadership, Clinical Education, Workforce Development, Human Resources, and other stakeholders to identify and develop high-potential colleagues and strengthen internal talent pipelines.
• Supports standardized recruitment and selection strategies designed to attract candidates aligned with PCT role expectations and organizational workforce needs.
• Supports consistent onboarding, orientation, and transition-to-practice processes in partnership with nursing leadership and Clinical Education.
• Collaborates with educators, preceptors, Lead PCTs, and operational leaders to identify development needs and opportunities to strengthen the PCT onboarding and development experience.
• Ensures workforce program changes, career development opportunities, resources, and other relevant information are effectively communicated to PCT colleagues and stakeholders.
• Monitors PCT workforce metrics including retention, turnover, vacancy, engagement, onboarding outcomes, career pathway participation, development plan completion, and advancement; analyzes trends and partners with appropriate leaders to develop improvement strategies.
• Supports achievement of internal workforce benchmarks, pilot objectives, and organizational workforce development goals.
• Serves as a visible resource and advocate for the PCT workforce, strengthening connection between PCT colleagues, nursing leadership, and organizational resources.
• Supports recognition and engagement strategies that strengthen team culture, colleague experience, retention, and professional growth.
• Identifies recurring workforce barriers and opportunities and partners with appropriate functional leaders to develop and implement solutions.
• Fosters interdisciplinary collaboration across Nursing, Clinical Education, Workforce Development, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and hospital operations.
• Represents the organization positively through workforce development, recruitment, educational, and community activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
- High School Graduate / GED required
- Associate's degree in Healthcare, business, leadership, education, nursing or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in progressive acute care, healthcare operations, or clinical support experience required
- 5+ years of experience in workforce development, onboarding, retention, or process improvement preferred
- BLS certification required
