Senior Manager, Software Engineering — AI Infrastructure, Network Modeling & Control
Lead the team building network control software that enables OCI’s AI infrastructure to scale.
Large-scale AI training and inference depend on reliable, high-performance networks connecting GPU infrastructure. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s Network Modeling and Control team builds the software that models these physical networks and enables their configuration, expansion, and safe operation.
Our services help turn infrastructure designs into working networks and coordinate changes as capacity grows. We solve distributed systems challenges at the intersection of software, networking, and AI infrastructure: maintaining consistent network state, coordinating concurrent changes, recovering from partial failures, and automating infrastructure changes safely.
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Core Infrastructure Engineering to lead and grow an engineering team delivering these services. You will combine people leadership, technical judgment, and execution to help OCI bring new AI network capacity online efficiently and operate it reliably.
You will partner with senior engineers to set technical direction, translate infrastructure priorities into an achievable roadmap, and build an environment where engineers take ownership, develop their expertise, and deliver meaningful results.
Internal Responsibilities
What makes this work interesting:
Direct impact on AI infrastructure. Lead software development for the networks supporting GPU clusters and AI workloads.
Technical depth and organizational influence. Guide decisions spanning distributed services, network models, automation, and production operations.
Ownership from strategy to production. Connect the team’s roadmap to infrastructure delivery needs and measure success through production outcomes.
The opportunity to build a strong team. Hire, coach, and develop engineers solving complex problems in a rapidly evolving domain.
What you will do:
Lead an engineering team responsible for distributed services supporting network modeling, configuration, and lifecycle operations across OCI’s AI and cloud infrastructure.
Own the team’s roadmap, priorities, and delivery commitments, balancing new capabilities with reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
Partner with technical leads and principal engineers to evaluate architectural tradeoffs, resolve technical risks, and guide the evolution of the services.
Establish clear ownership and execution plans for complex projects, manage dependencies, and remove obstacles to delivery.
Work with network engineering, infrastructure delivery, operations, and adjacent software teams to align requirements and deliver capabilities across service boundaries.
Build a culture of production ownership, with effective testing, observability, operational readiness, and safe rollout practices.
Lead the team’s operational performance, ensuring sustainable on-call practices and turning incident findings into lasting engineering improvements.
Hire and develop engineers through regular feedback, coaching, career planning, and thoughtful delegation.
Foster an inclusive environment where engineers can challenge assumptions, raise risks early, and contribute to decisions.
Communicate progress, tradeoffs, and risks clearly to engineering leadership and partner teams.
What you bring:
Substantial software engineering experience, including experience managing teams that build and operate production services.
A record of delivering complex software initiatives through effective planning, technical judgment, and collaboration across teams.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, service architecture, reliability, and the software development lifecycle.
Experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineers, including supporting senior technical contributors.
Ability to engage deeply in technical discussions, ask incisive questions, and help teams make sound architectural decisions.
Experience owning production services and improving operational health through engineering investment.
Ability to turn ambiguous business and infrastructure needs into clear priorities and achievable plans.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build productive partnerships across organizational boundaries.
Experience that will help you succeed:
Leading teams building cloud infrastructure, network automation, configuration management, or infrastructure control systems.
Infrastructure software supporting AI/ML platforms, GPU clusters, or large-scale compute environments.
Managing services with demanding availability, scalability, and change-safety requirements.
Leading delivery across software engineering, physical infrastructure, networking, and operations teams.
You do not need prior experience with every technology in our environment. We value sound technical judgment, thoughtful people leadership, and the ability to help teams succeed in a complex domain.
