ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.
At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.
Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.
The Role:
As a senior technical leader on the Infinity Fabric Architecture and RTL team, you will drive the development and execution of key IP within AMD’s scalable, coherent on-chip interconnect. You will work across component owners and engineering teams to translate architectural intent into high-quality implementations, resolve cross-component dependencies, and ensure designs meet functional, power, performance, area, and timing requirements. Partnering closely with architects, verification, physical design, integration, silicon, and program teams, you will help shape development strategy, assess technical risk and implementation trade-offs, and drive complex IP from concept through silicon. This role combines deep RTL and microarchitecture expertise with broad technical leadership and influence across globally distributed teams supporting AMD’s CPUs, GPUs, and other advanced processor products.
The Person:
You are an experienced technical leader, self-starter, and fast learner who works effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. You have a strong background in microprocessor and ASIC development from concept to production, with proven experience leading engineers through technical expertise and influence. You bring a collaborative mindset and experience driving complex IP development across globally distributed teams.
You combine hands-on RTL design expertise with sound engineering judgment with ability to work closely with architects and cross-functional partners to resolve implementation challenges, evaluate technical trade-offs, and maintain schedule and design quality. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and ability to support timely, informed decisions are key to being successful in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive development and execution across IP component owners and teams, align implementation priorities, resolve cross-component dependencies, and ensure component designs come together to meet IP-level functional, power, performance, area, and timing requirements.
- Partner closely with the IP architect to translate architectural intent into actionable development work. Assess implementation feasibility, clarify requirements, and provide feedback on engineering trade-offs, bringing architecture-impacting questions or changes to the architect for direction.
- Lead top-down development scoping for new proposals. Advise leadership on execution strategies across concurrent commitments through data-driven assessments of engineering effort, design reuse, dependencies, capacity, technical risks, and skills gaps.
- Anticipate execution challenges and drive the engineering response to technical roadblocks, scope changes, and late-discovered bugs. Use tracking information provided by project managers to assess technical progress, engage the appropriate component owners, and support timely decisions on mitigation and priorities.
- Drive implementation reviews, technical readiness assessments, and issue closure across component boundaries and with verification, physical design, integration, and silicon teams. Reinforce design quality, clear technical ownership, and effective problem-solving throughout development.
- Represent the team, or support leadership representation, in AMD design quality and time-to-market improvement initiatives. Drive improvements to development processes, methodologies, tools, and team capabilities.
Preferred Experience:
Strong industry experience in IP or ASIC design development, with substantial technical leadership across multiple components or engineering teams through silicon delivery.
Deep RTL design and implementation expertise in CPU, GPU, NoC, cache, or related processor subsystems, with strong judgment on design quality, implementation constraints, and power, performance, area, and timing trade-offs.
Demonstrated success serving as an influential technical lead across globally distributed, matrixed team-aligning component owners, resolving cross-team technical challenges, and driving execution through collaboration and engineering credibility.
Proven ability to partner with architects, assess development scope and risk, guide complex design and silicon issue resolution, and communicate actionable recommendations to leadership. Strong understanding of relevant processor and memory-system concepts, including coherency, ordering, and caches.
Academic Credentials:
BS, MS, or PhD degree in Electrical or Computer engineering preferred.
This role is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.
