Account Engineer, Public Sector

As a Public Sector Account Engineer, you will deliver technical expertise and build relationships with government agencies, educational institutions, and public sector organizations as they explore the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. Our customers use data to improve citizen services, strengthen national security, advance research, and drive transparency.
You will work alongside experienced team members on a variety of customer engagements, from technical evaluations to future-state architectures. This role blends technical problem-solving, collaboration, and customer focus.
What You Will Do
- Support mission-driven customer engagements. Present Snowflake's technology and vision to technical staff, data teams, program managers, CIOs, CDOs, and agency leadership. Align technical solutions with mission outcomes.
- Contribute to technical wins. Help plan and run technical evaluations and proofs of concept with senior team members. Tailor solutions to agency security, compliance, and procurement requirements.
- Learn and build relationships. Partner with customers and technical champions. Learn how public sector organizations buy, budget, and make decisions.
- Develop technical and domain expertise through demos, labs, and Snowflake learning resources. Stay current on data modernization, zero trust, cross-agency data sharing, and responsible AI.
- Understand the compliance landscape, including FedRAMP, StateRAMP, and CJIS.
- Collaborate with Account Executives, Marketing, systems integrators, and public sector resellers.
- Grow through mentorship and on-the-job learning.
What You Bring
- Some experience in a technical role such as solutions engineering, solutions architecture, or software development, preferably in SaaS, data analytics, or cloud. Government or education experience is a plus.
- A drive to learn technical and business skills.
- Basic familiarity with SQL and/or Python, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- A desire to understand public sector challenges and deliver meaningful solutions.
- A collaborative approach. U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred: experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Fabric, or BigQuery; AWS, Azure, or GCP, including government regions; data science, machine learning, or governance tools; FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, FISMA, CMMC, HIPAA, or FERPA; and prior government, defense, education, or public sector contractor experience.
Compensation: on-target earnings (base plus commission) $140,000 to $183,750, plus variable compensation, equity, 401(k), health, dental, vision, flexible PTO, and a professional development budget.
