The purpose/function of this position is to perform system engineering integration for the Human Landing System (HLS) for future NASA lunar landing missions. System integration is performed as part of the HLS Crew Compartment (CrewCo) system engineering and integration work performed for the Moon to Mars (M2M) Lunar Exploration Program. Tasks include developing and updating requirements for Government Furnished Property (GFP)/Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), coordination of GFP process improvements, support to the HLS GFP management, participation in GFP safety reviews and verification efforts, and review of GFP-related Change Requests (CRs). GFP is a term used for GFE developed for a commercial provider. The person will work at Johnson Space Center with a large team of System Engineering and Integration (SE&I) personnel across multiple NASA centers in a virtual environment.
Responsibilities:
- System engineering integration support to GFP interface requirements definition, associated verifications and milestone reviews.
- Develop/coordinate/integrate potential GFP process improvements such as requirements management and certification streamlining.
- Participate in/support GFP safety reviews, risk reviews and verification reviews as a representative of HLS Crew Compartment.
- Review and provide comments on HLS and cross-program CRs that impinge upon GFP requirements, interfaces and management.
- Perform system integration within HLS program and with external stakeholders.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A BS degree in engineering or equivalent degree with a minimum of 10 years' experience
Minimum 5 years' experience working with NASA GFE and/or GFP, including GFE/GFP requirements and certification
Experience with NASA safety data packages, either as developer or reviewer
DESIRED:
Experience with developing risks and/or risk management/reporting
Experience working with NASA commercial partners
Experience in developing NASA-related system engineering documentation, such as for requirements/interfaces
SKILLS/TRAINING REQUIRED:
Self-motivated and proactive in integrating/communicating with others without a lot of hands-on direction
Ability to work within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA centers
Ability to identify integration concerns and gaps in information and communicate concerns to leadership in a diplomatic manner
Ability to perform cross-program integration with multiple people for various purposes in parallel
Well-developed skills in both written and verbal communication
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook)
