Job Overview
The Total Reward Manager assists in leading the implementation, administration, and analysis and maintaining core union total rewards (benefits and compensation) policies, programs, and processes. This position is responsible for providing important compensation and benefits-related information to multiple vendors and internal stakeholders with a specific focus on bargain unit complexities. This position also provides vendor administration on transactional workflows and departmental execution of duties and operational compliance. The Total Reward Manager Union participates in and prepares specific analysis and reporting utilizing these for exception management and continuous improvement and occupies a critical position in the development, validation, and promotion of union total rewards strategies for the Company.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages and participates in the development of emerging health, welfare, and retirement benefit programs/strategies, assists in defining activity-based programs, steer plan design, costing, and qualification for participants, and assesses the effectiveness of these programs/strategies in meeting overall Company and department objectives
- Manages compensation programs, such as employee pay deductions and reimbursements, processing pay-system batch transactions, incentive payments, annual wage increases, and compensation systems
- Ensures timely, thorough, and thoughtful service is provided to each employee and department while providing continuous subject matter expertise to the Company and its employees regarding all total rewards union plans and programs
- Provides strategic support and participates in the development of programs and corresponding communication plans aimed at improving the overall level of knowledge for CCCI union employees; collaborates cross-functionally to submit technical specifications for programming and serves as the liaison between HR, IT, payroll, and other departments
- Manages developing and maintaining comprehensive analytical reporting that captures the situational status of each total reward union program to detect near term trends and outcomes, and plan performance exceptions
- Audits total rewards processes and programs with recommendations to ensure compliance with internal guidelines and government regulations, assisting internal and external auditors, actuaries, and advisers with necessary/recurring reports and information
- Participates and/or learns 401(k) and pension reporting for non-union and union employees, reports for vendors, survey and benchmarking, balance 401(k) plans and research errors, reports and balancing for a stock purchase, and evaluation of regulatory change (PPACA, DOL, PBGC, Dept. of Treasury, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of Federal, State, Local regulations related to benefits, compensation, collective bargaining, and wage and hour
- Knowledge of HR Systems including compensation/benefits, performance management, payroll, project management technologies that include planning, modeling, and/or forecasting tools
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; ability to present to and communicate with leadership and teammates at all levels
- Demonstrated ability of collaborating and develop professional relationships with leaders, department leads, and front-line management
- Ability and experience maintaining privacy and confidentiality due to working in sensitive data and materials
- Ability to multi-task with solid organizational and project management skills, and ability to manage ambiguity in the workplace and apply problem-solving skills
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office application skills
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of education beyond high school in college or technical school
- Knowledge acquired through 3 to up to 5 years of work experience
- Working experience in Union and Non-Union operating environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with preferred areas of concentration in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or another related field
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Global Remuneration Professional (GRP), Society for Human Resources (SHRM) certification, Project Management certification, or Professional Human Resources certifications
- HR, Total Rewards, and Project Management technologies that include planning, modeling and/or forecasting tools
- Experience with multi-geography, large enterprise organization preferably a publicly held company; manufacturing, warehousing, transportation and/or delivery, industrial and/or retail environment preferred
