Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Detroit, Michigan three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
The General Motors Global Tax and Customs department is a team of approximately 200 people focused primarily on GM’s strategic and most complex tax and trade matters. We manage relationships with numerous external partners who perform many of our routine tax functions. We aspire to be a trusted advisor to both internal partners and external stakeholders to whom we provide actionable, innovative advice in a straightforward manner. The Global Tax Accounting Tax Analyst is responsible for processes necessary to ensure GM’s income taxes are properly accounted for pursuant to ASC 740 and appropriately reported in its SEC filings, including both U.S. and local tax impacts of foreign business activity. This person will have responsibility for administering SOX compliance with respect to key financial accounting processes and the financial reporting of taxes.
What You’ll Do

US GAAP quarterly and annual tax accounting processes for the U.S. and/or non-U.S. regions, including deferred/current tax calculation, cash tax forecast, effective tax rate forecast, valuation allowance analysis, and support on the reporting of uncertain tax positions and tax contingencies.

Review tax accounting submissions for accuracy and completeness

Provide tax accounting support for Tax planning, M&A, divestiture, and similar activities.

Assist in the resolve of tax accounting issues and drive leading practices.

Assist in technical accounting analysis of legislative developments.
