About the Role
The Technical Service Engineer for the Manufacturing Advancement department will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment to ensure optimal functionality and minimize downtime. You will provide on-site service support, perform preventive maintenance, and work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure machines are operating efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment, ensuring optimum performance.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues on CNC equipment.
• Collaborate with teams to identify equipment issues and provide technical support.
• Perform repairs, including component replacement, calibration, and adjustments.
• Assist in machine installations, relocations, and setup, ensuring proper configuration and alignment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repair logs, and service reports.
• Order and manage parts inventory for capital equipment maintenance, repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols during equipment maintenance and repair activities.
• Provide technical training and support staff as needed.
• Keep up to date with technology advancements and best practices for maintenance.

IALR's Campus in Danville, VA.
The Ideal Candidate
• Associate's degree or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with CNC machine maintenance and repair.
• Strong understanding of machine geometry and calibration best practices
• Strong understanding of CNC machining, mechanical systems, electrical troubleshooting, and PLCs.
• Familiarity with CNC control systems (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Essential Physical Requirements:
• May sit or stand for long periods of time while completing duties
• Must be able to move freely between facilities
• Must be able to operate and manipulate a keyboard
• May lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Must be able to wear hearing protection for extended periods of time
