Technical Writer
KBR is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer (XML) to support our documentation efforts in Orange Park, FL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing technical data for a variety of documents and publications. You must possess the ability to integrate diverse inputs and adhere to established procedures and formats. Candidates will be expected to collaborate with both internal and external customers to ensure that technical documentation is accurate and complete. This position may require flexibility to adapt to new information and changes in programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research, write, and edit technical documentation for various publications.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure completeness and accuracy of technical documentation.
- Coordinate with other internal support organizations to align on documentation standards.
- Assist in establishing style guidelines for text and illustrations.
- Integrate inputs from task and project requirements, theories, and concepts into documentation.
- Support proposal compilation and editing as needed.
- Prepare draft materials for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customers.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Security Clearance & Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen. Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with at least 2 years of related experience or 10 years of equivalent experience in lieu of formal education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with military technical documents, integrated logistics support, and familiarity with ARs, MIL STDs, MIL-PRFs, IETMs, TPDRs, and DIDs is recommended. Naval aviation maintenance experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Oracle products.
- Experience with XML authoring is highly preferred.
- Ability to research, review, and understand technical information to develop procedural documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in operating office equipment (PC, printer, copier, telephone, fax machine).
- Flexibility in work hours to accommodate surge situations based on mission requirements.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support project requirements.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week.
Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation.
