Radar Analyst
Improve Army Weapon system through performance analysis!
ABOUT THIS POSITION
Will provide analysis of the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) performance and radar search, track, and discrimination functions. Will participate in writing Test Reports, participating in LTAMDS testing, writing Test Incident Reports (TIRs) as necessary, and reviewing TIR responses. Will be responsible for reviewing and keeping up with software changes. Will work on developing tools and scripts as necessary to assist in analysis, including coordinate conversions for radar data. This will require developing knowledge of the LTAMDS operational concept, radar, missile guidance, and signal processing principles and understanding search, track, and discrimination software logic. Will also be required to become competent in data reduction software and MATLAB-based analysis tools and become familiar with a wide variety of data reduction output files from the tactical system and from hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulations, the specific variables in the files, and how to apply them to determine radar performance. Will also be assisting with the Verification and Validation (V&V) of these HWIL simulations.
The ideal candidate should be a problem-solver, resourceful, independently motivated and detail oriented. The position requires good time management capabilities and communication skills.
Relocation: Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or able to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, software, computer, etc.) or other STEM related fields (physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.) with 2+ years of experience.
- 2 years experience in Air & Missile Defense Weapon Systems, Data Analysis, Flight Tests/Ground System Tests
- Demonstrated basic understanding of radar functionality
- Able to travel about 20-25% of the time
- Candidate must be a US Citizen
- Candidate must be eligible for a security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in working and coding in MATLAB with working knowledge of coding in C, C++, and Python.
- Direct experience with radar hardware, radar architecture, and/or signal processing.
- Ability to absorb extensive technical detail and logically formulate solutions for execution on prescribed schedules
- Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and take on numerous roles as part of the daily program operations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members, leadership, and customers
- Ability to brief audiences large or small of varying technical knowledge
