Description: Perform a wide variety of shop control duties in support of manufacturing operations.
Responsible for all shop control functions required within assigned area/program.
Maintain proper supply of parts and materials; prepare, update and work from current and projected shortage reports; foresee and recognize need for corrective action to offset interruptions and deviations in schedule; react immediately to all urgently needed items, and follow-up through conclusion; assure supplies and related paperwork such as work orders, operation sheets; materials, tools etc., are provided to users.
Maintain close contact with assigned area manufacturing supervision and responsible personnel of Purchasing, Material Control, Manufacturing, Product Support and Engineering departments for promise dates, material requirements, and ship effectively, etc.
Check incoming and outgoing items in assigned area against accompanying paperwork for proper identification and quantity.
Stock, store, gather and deliver items as required.
Use data terminal to execute catalogue programs, edit and change processing format as required, log-in required data and extract required Shop Control information.
Investigate and correct inconsistencies reported on daily automated shortage list.
As required up-date, change and add to computer data base Engineering related modifications; items rejected, reworked, etc.
Represent Shop Control at status/shortage meetings.
Maintain and update “PRIORITY LISTS” and provide required information, i.e., commit dates to area manufacturing supervision at status/shortage meetings.
May be responsible for one or two persons.
May be required to transport and deliver items to designated areas.
Perform other duties, usually of a related or similar nature as directed.
Refer unusual conditions to Working Leader or Supervisor.
Perform operator checklist as required.
Contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator required upkeep.
Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.
Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
Refer only unusual conditions to Working Leader or supervisor.
Basic Qualifications:Requires elementary knowledge of business and shop practices, sufficient to understand the routing and processing of parts, and/or materials. Have knowledge of material planning, scheduling, automated shortage system and paperwork related to shop control activities. Be able to read ordinary drawings. Requires familiarity with department breakdowns. Equivalent to short specialized training.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
