What does a successful Data Governance Manager do? A successful Data Governance Manager at Fiserv works within the Global Privacy Office to help mature the Data Governance program by implementing our data governance framework. You will conduct risk assessments related to data governance practices, identifying potential risks and areas of non-compliance. You will scope, plan, coordinate, and execute initiatives related to maturing the Data Governance function while working directly with other departments to promote data governance initiatives.
What you will do:
- Draft policies, standards, and guidance related to enterprise Data Governance.
- Assist in implementing data governance policies and procedures and assess whether business practices align with those standards.
- Perform basic data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement within data governance practices.
- Engage directly with other departments to gather information, clarify data-related issues, and promote data governance initiatives.
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to data governance and stewardship and develop recommendations for data management improvements.
- Assist in developing and deploying training for staff on compliance responsibilities, focusing on the importance of following data governance policies and mitigating risks associated with data handling.
What you will need to have:
- 6+ years experience of data security principles and measures, including encryption, access controls, and data masking.
- Understanding of relevant data-related laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) to understand compliance requirements and regulations.
- Analyze data and processes to identify compliance risks, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerBI to assist in data analysis and reporting tasks.
- Knowledge of data management tools and software, (e.g. Snowflake and Alation).
- Bachelor's Degree
What would be great to have:
- Understanding of database management systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle, or MongoDB).
- Familiarity with data modeling techniques and tools to understand data structures and relationships, aiding in effective governance and compliance.
