Job Description Summary
The Staff Engineer – Preliminary Design Mechanical leads mechanical development for early engine designs within the Preliminary Design organization. This role incorporates creation of technical analysis necessary to build preliminary engine feasiblity, cross-sections, weight, and mechanical trade studies. The Staff Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives to develop innovative preliminary design concepts, simultaneously meeting aggressive cost and performance/weight targets for key next generation engine applications from TG0 to TG3. This will require collaboration with systems engineering and technologists across the Future of Flight organization along with members of GE Aerospace’s global engineering team.

Essential Responsibilities
Lead teams to balance financial and engineering goals, including designers, engineers, and analysts. Create plans to meet technical needs, solve problems, and report status to leadership.
Lead a cross-functional team of adjacent disciplines (Aerothermal, Mechanical, Cost, Systems, Project, Sourcing) to drive optimal engine design & cost to meet technical and business objectives

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
