About the Opportunity
We are looking for a 'Design Authority Safety Case Engineer' to undertake technical oversight during licensing, procurement, manufacture, construction, commissioning and operation.
The part of the SZC project that understands, owns and controls the safety case during the design and construction phase & responsible for maintaining design integrity of the SZC project.
You will be required to advise the SZC project teams on the adequacy of safety case and safety case deliverables with regards to field change requests and site interface topics. you will need to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including EDF Nuclear Operations, site delivery team, site interface teams (SZC/SZB), UK nuclear regulators, and suppliers.
Principal accountabilities, activities and decisions:
To be a nuclear safety categoriser for field change requests under the Licence Condition 20 arrangements and associated processes.
To be the 'Design Authority' lead interface point for the site team, especially for the SZC/SZB interface management and cross site modifications form processes.
Provide influence and direction to maximise the benefit of replication.
Leading ALARP sessions and managing production of safety cases for modifications.
Work effectively and maintain a strong relationship with all Engineering and Regulatory bodies.
Provide safety case oversight and advice to SZC project.
Produce technical advice notes and surveillance reports as required, to support the project to make technical decision.
Undertake relevant training as required to be able to perform the role.
Here's What You'll Need
Degree or equivalent in physical science, maths or engineering.
Technical and Commercial Knowledge and Skills.
Experience the nuclear industry.
Knowledge of the UK EPR reactor design, and of the Hinkley Point C project (or other new build projects).
Decision making capability for resolution of safety case issues.
Excellent communication & organisational skills.
Identification and resolution of issues and development work within the life cycle of nuclear plant construction through to operational level.
Ability to operate autonomously or as part of a team.
Understanding the needs of quality.
