Description:You will be the Senior Sustainment Engineer for the Obsolescence Management Team. Our team safeguards product lifecycles by tracking component health, pricing, lead times, usage trends, and Last Time Buy (LTB) needs, ensuring uninterrupted production and sustainment for our customers.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Senior Sustainment Engineer you will own the end to end process of identifying, assessing, and mitigating component obsolescence risks. You’ll build and maintain data driven models, partner with cross functional groups, and translate complex risk information into clear visual forecasts and actionable recommendations for stakeholders and senior leadership.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Systematically identify, assess, and mitigate component obsolescence risks.
• Build and maintain dynamic models that track pricing, lead times, usage patterns, historical failure rates, parts consumption, obsolescence trends, and LTB requirements.
• Manage material files, monitor Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) status, and execute part orders through a replenishment model.
• Create intuitive visual forecasts that illustrate lifecycle risks for subsystems and components.
• Partner with engineering, supply chain, and program teams to devise End of Life (EOL) solutions that minimize production and sustainment disruption.
• Analyze “life of need” data—failure rates, performance periods, subsystem longevity—to support production and sustainment stakeholders.
• Communicate case status, issues, and recommendations to management and customers via detailed reports, engineering change requests, and presentations.

This position is in Orlando, FL.
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
• Appropriate technical degree from an accredited institution
• In-depth knowledge of obsolescence management principles, methodologies, and best practices
• Experience with obsolescence management tools and techniques, including forecasting, tracking, and reporting of obsolete parts and materials
• Experience with parts ordering, replenishment, budgets, contract management
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyze complex problems
• Self-starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to interface with a variety of IT applications
• Ability to prepare and deliver presentations
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word)
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance
Desired Skills:
• Understanding of supply chain dynamics, including sourcing, procurement, and inventory management
• Understanding of electronic components, manufacturing processes, and supply chain management
• Strong Excel skills, with ability to create complex spreadsheets and analyses.
• Familiarity with Asset Management System (AMS)
• Experience using SAP client applications
• Experience teaming with suppliers and government customers to develop products

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
