Active and existing security clearance required on day 1Strategic Defense Solutions is seeking a highly accomplished and strategic Senior Principal Systems Engineer Cost Account Manager to lead cost management efforts for large, complex programs within our organization. This P5-level role requires an expert in Earned Value Management (EVM), financial oversight, and program execution to ensure alignment with company objectives and customer expectations.
The ideal candidate will bring exceptional leadership skills, technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset to drive cost efficiency and program success at an enterprise level.
What You Will Do

Oversee the cost account management strategy for critical, high-visibility programs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, internal processes, and customer requirements.

Lead the development and management of multi-million-dollar budgets, providing executive-level insights and recommendations to maintain cost, schedule, and performance objectives.

Serve as the senior advisor and point of escalation for Cost Account Managers across multiple programs, driving consistent implementation of best practices and tools.

Develop and present detailed financial reports, including Estimates at Completion (EACs), variance analysis, and risk assessments, to program leadership and executive stakeholders.

Collaborate with engineering, finance, program management, and supply chain leaders to ensure the seamless integration of cost, schedule, and technical performance.

Proactively identify and mitigate risks while capitalizing on opportunities to optimize program execution and profitability.

Mentor and guide junior and mid-level CAMs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Represent RTX during customer reviews, audits, and engagements, ensuring transparency and alignment on financial performance and program health.

Drive process innovation and automation initiatives to enhance cost management efficiency and accuracy across the organization.
Qualifications You Must Have
-
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience oran Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience

Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain Top Secret after start.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Minimum of 12 years of experience in cost account management, program management, or financial leadership roles within the aerospace and defense industry.

Advanced expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM) principles, tools, and application.

Deep understanding of financial systems and tools, such as SAP, wInsight, Cobra, or equivalent.
-
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence decision-making at senior levels of the organization.
Qualifications We Prefer
-
Demonstrated expertise in applying RTX Lifecycle Program Management (RLPM) processes to drive program execution, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and customer requirements.

PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials.

Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred

Experience leading cost management efforts for government or Department of Defense (DoD) programs.

Familiarity with RTX systems, processes, and tools is a plus.

Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills with a focus on results.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with experience presenting to executive leadership and external customers.

Ability to manage ambiguity and provide clear direction in high-pressure situations.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
