Job Summary and Qualifications
- Under general supervision, and according to hospital policies and procedures, you will be responsible for determining, investigating, auditing, and compiling clinical outcomes and sources of infection or disease outbreaks
- You will describe the criteria and laboratory values that support the distribution of diseases and infections among patients
- Using audit tools, you will monitor staff compliance with precautions used for disease prevention. Program goals align with current Federal, State, and Local standards and regulations, which govern Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center
- You will be required to possess working knowledge of human anatomy, and should be able to interpret clinical guidelines for infection classification as detailed by the National Health Safety Network (NHSN) division of the CDC. NHSN guidelines include criteria for infection related to each body system, procedure, or device used in hospital-based patient care, along with personnel blood and body fluid exposure management
- You will interpret patient clinical data related to the Sepsis Core Measure, and Sepsis Bundle compliance, antibiotic selection and onset, and physician adherence with current guidelines, and will track progress to goals selected for the Core Measure Improvement process
What qualifications you will need:
- Registered Nurse in the state of California, with current licensure requiredd
- Master’s in Public Health, Master’s in Nursing, or another Health-related field is preferred
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred, or willingness to become CIC certified within two years of employment
- 2-5 years of related work experience: prefer Infection Prevention or Quality Management experience combined with clinical data analysis. May consider a combination of hospital work with patient safety/performance improvement/national patient safety goals
- Experience collaborating with physicians and other health care professionals about patient conditions and results of testing
- Proficiency and expert knowledge of databases, including Microsoft Office
