Job Description
NBC News is seeking a seasoned Producer to support the newsgathering and storytelling activities of Hallie Jackson.
Candidates should be ready, willing, and able to jump in whenever and wherever duty calls – in studio, the field, or the halls of power. A knowledge of Washington politics is a must, but successful candidates can break-down wonky debates into salient dinner-table conversation and deliver network quality packages. Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Hallie Jackson to develop, report, and execute strong visual stories with clear narratives and well-researched, accurate journalism.
- Pitch, field produce, write and fact check stories across NBC News linear and streaming platforms; including cross platform contributions and news-of-day stories
- Conduct reporting, source interviews, and engage in deep research for original stories
- Work closely with Hallie Jackson's show team as needed, including contributing during editorial meetings, working in the show rundown to build segments, and writing intros to packages / other taped elements
- Find and book new and engaging guests for live and taped segments; conduct pre-interviews
- Multi-task and juggle producing multiple stories for regular and breaking-news programming
- Produce Hallie Jackson’s live shots - in studio and remote
- Responsible for all field operations, including story production, remote anchor setups, and field production as needed.
- Work with the Specials team to produce for Hallie Jackson during special reports
- Communicate and coordinate with control rooms during live coverage
- Keep senior leadership up to date with progress of stories and key news developments
- Develop and maintain close relationships across all shows and network divisions to ensure that stories are being pitched to the correct platform
- Act as the go-between during Hallie Jackson's busy work day to ensure everyone has all the information needed to ensure good communication and smooth, strong show production
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in show producing, segment producing, control room experience, experience covering both domestic and international stories
- Previous network or cable network television experience
- Must have a deep knowledge of politics
- Must be able to travel, often with little notice, domestically or internationally
- Must be able to work overtime, nights, holidays and on weekends with short notice
- Bonus, if you’re comfortable shooting still or video in the field on DSLR cameras; edit on AVID and/or Adobe Premiere

- You’ve got big ideas and the journalistic writing and research skills to bring them to life
- You are able to successfully complete work under tight deadlines while working collaboratively
- Able to find the best video and sound for assigned stories and order graphics
- You’ve got thorough knowledge of current events, U.S. politics, and pop culture
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with all levels of management
- You’re cool, calm, and collected in high-pressure situations
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- You live for the moments when news is breaking and time to air is short
- You are experienced overseeing the edit of high quality video pieces

Salary range: $135,000 - $190,000
