Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide quality care to patients under direction of a MD, RN, LP, EMT-P, LVN in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Del Sol Medical Center and the ED philosophy, Mission, Vision and Key Values. Assists in the delivery of non narcotic medications to the ED, ED nurses, paramedics and ED medical staff during procedures. This is accomplished as a non-interruptive single task from one point to the other.
POPULATION SERVED:
Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Triage assess and treat patients of all ages presenting for emergency care for all body systems, conditions & diseases including but not limited to Coronary, Pulmonary, Neuro, Skeletal-muscular, GI/metabolic, GU/renal GYN, integumentary, etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of EMT-Basic patient care for infant, child and adult, to include basic airway management, vital signs, urinary catheterization, cardiac monitoring, and 12 lead EKG.
- Continuous monitoring of patient status
- Continuous monitoring of supplies in the ED, replace and restock as needed.
- Participates in the unit based Quality Improvement process.
- Knowledgeable with 100% compliance with Core Measures in the Emergency Department (evidence based best demonstrated practice).
- Knowledgeable with 100% compliance with Premium Credit (best demonstrated practice).
- Provides excellent customer service following the philosophy of the hospital, and the ED with the guiding values in daily activities.
- Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patient’s right to privacy and protection of patient’s confidentiality.
- Plans, organizes and communicates patient care activities to the patient and the MD, RN, LVN, LP, and EMT-P.
- Ensures non-narcotic medications are available for the ER physician, RN, LVN, Paramedic in a non-diversionary manner.
- Monitors and documents information regarding patient activities, as directed by the MD, RN, LP, EMT-P, and LVN.
- Other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support
- High School Graduate / GED
- Vocational School Graduate
- (EMT-State) Emergency Medical Technician
