Job Summary:
At Caterpillar’s Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble large mining and construction equipment. In this role as a Human Resources Manager, you will report to the Senior Human Resources Manager and will be primarily responsible for supervising and coordinating the administration and development of various human resources services and functions. As a member of the Human Resources team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:
- Under the general guidance of the Senior Manager of Human Resources, work with employees on all payrolls and all shifts including union-represented employees.
- Acting as a trusted coach providing guidance to leaders and managers on HR-related matters, including performance management, compensation, and benefits, etc. Play an integral part in the facility Employee Insights Survey (EIS) results through integrating cultural values in the day-to-day business activities.
- Provide direction to Facility Management in interpretation and application of employee-related policies, practices and procedures, as well as international laws if applicable, governmental regulations, and internal investigations to enhance consistency and maintain and improve the work environment of the facility. Provide employment and personnel services including hiring new employees, administering benefits, providing appropriate training, and ensuring a safe work environment.
- Provide directives considering impact upon the company (financial), employee engagement, and consideration for the future (new practices, policies, and procedures). Research, benchmark, create strategic initiatives, and design implementation strategy to improve business unit results. Formulate and/or implement policies, practices and procedures related to employment practices, appropriate training, benefits, and safety.
- Leading team of HR professionals to collaborate effectively with other Centers of Excellence and serve as thought leaders to the business and HR. Manage a work unit of primarily management/professional employees where some review of subordinate work is required as well as training, developing and mentoring. The position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.
- Collaborating with management as a strategic advisor helping identify and prioritize HR initiatives that align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
- Aligning HR policies and programs for their business unit or region which promote employee engagement, retention, and performance.
- Analyzing HR metrics and data to identify trends and opportunities and develop a story to provide data-driven recommendations to senior management.

- Employee Relations: Knowledge of the rights and obligations in the employee relations; ability to adhere to legal requirements when handling employee negotiations.
- Talent Management : Knowledge of how an organization attracts, recruits, retains, identifies and develops talent; ability to develop the talent required for an organization to achieve its short-term and long-term goals.
- Work Schedule Flexibility: Ability to flex work schedule both early and late as necessary to support a 3-shift operation.
- Confidentiality: Ability to deal with sensitive issues and to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside of department

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
