Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Manufacturing Innovation & Transformation (MIT) – Manufacturing Center of Excellence is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Seibi Technician
The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and implement innovative activities, improving manufacturing competitiveness and reducing fixed costs in North America
Reporting to the MIT Manager, the person in this role will support the Production Engineering Division and SOAR Group’s objective to improve manufacturing competitiveness.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager the person in this role will support the Advanced Technology department's objective to learn and confirm innovative technologies for vehicle manufacturing.
What you’ll be doing
Conduct offline and/or online robot programming for new technology equipment
Plans lab equipment, workspaces, and project timelines in coordination with managers and engineers to ensure we have the environment and equipment necessary to accomplish project goals
Support test plans and procedures with engineering guidance.
Confirm new technology equipment meets set standards and performs as intended
Understand and confirm equipment kanban process and machine risk assessment
Support equipment trials, troubleshoot, and develop countermeasures at trial location from POC to yokoten
Attend conferences/tradeshows to identify potential innovative technologies
Present reports, demonstrations, and updates to stakeholders, management, and executives
Work cross-functionally with different teams and organizations
Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally as required
Willingness to work 20% overtime as required.
What you bring
Associate technical degree (or higher) in controls/robotics field or equivalent experience
Minimum 3 years of Toyota experience
Proven use of computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) engineering software techniques
Experience setting up and troubleshooting control systems
Experience in robotics, including operation, teaching, maintenance, and safety standards
Experience with programming Toyopuc PLCs
Experience in equipment integration
Experience with industrial communications networks setup (e.g FL-Net, DeviceNet, ethernet/IP)
Proven ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
Experience with programming languages: ROS, Python, C++, or C#
Added bonus if you have
Experience in vision guided robotics
Minimum 2 years of Toyota PE Seibi experience
Minimum 2 years of experience at a Toyota North American Manufacturing Company (NAMC)
Experience using robot simulation software
