Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Manufacturing Innovation and Transformation – Manufacturing Center of Excellence is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Advanced Technology Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and implement innovative activities to improve current processes and manufacturing competitiveness.
Reporting to the MIT Manager, the person in this role will support the Production Engineering Division and SOAR Group’s to achieve cost reduction objectives.
What you’ll be doing
- Development of new technologies for PE and Manufacturing competitiveness improvement
- Lead and manage projects from concept to launch for new technology first introduction to manufacturing including creating schedules, establishing punch lists, and meeting established due dates and milestones.
- Develop equipment procurement scopes of work and ensure specification is met from planning to production use.
- Search for innovative solutions to align with cost reduction strategies to support factory of the future.
- Plan, execute and implement new technologies in a manufacturing setting and develop business case justification for implementation.
- Close collaboration between both internal and external groups across Toyota including NAMCs, TMC, TME, TTC, SOAR, PE support shops, & Plano divisions
- Ability to travel up to 30% to all North American Manufacturing Centers (NAMC’s) as well as Japan and other international regions based on phase of project
- Ability to work overtime as needed
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering technology OR at least 5 years of equivalent technical experience
- At least 3 years of production engineering or manufacturing process preparation experience
- Ability to work in a cross-functional environment to negotiate timelines, budgets, milestones, KPIs, vendor pricing, process requirements and constraints, design and quality targets.
- Experience with project management including writing detailed scope of work, creating schedules, budgeting, managing vendors/contractors, and providing regular status updates
- At least 2 years of experience working in Autodesk AutoCAD with strong proficiency
Added bonus if you have
- Master’s degree in engineering or advanced degree
- At least 5 years of production engineering or manufacturing process preparation experience
- General knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, Vault, CATIA, XVL (1+ yrs)
- Academic research experience in new technology or capstone leadership
- Experience in development of innovation projects in a manufacturing environment
- Experience deploying equipment including establishing process standards (RJ), PFMEA, and quality control plan
- Experience with automation and automated material dispensing systems
- Experience with mechanical design, testing, integration to process, and implementation.
- Experience deploying automotive production equipment
- Experience in robotics including safety, operation, programming, and maintenance
- Experience with vision systems and equipment integration
- Experience with PLCs (Toyopuc, Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Knowledge Toyota vehicle structure and/or Toyota vehicle design standards.
- Practical knowledge of Machine Design and Machining/Fabrication.
- Experience in coatings and/or battery manufacturing desired
- Completion of TBP through panel
