Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Construction/Safety Manager to support the successful execution of BSL-2 laboratory construction projects. This position provides the unique opportunity to manage complex construction projects while ensuring the highest safety and quality standards.
Job Summary:
The Construction/Safety Manager will play a critical role in overseeing daily field operations, coordinating subcontractors, and managing the technical execution of BSL-2 laboratory projects. This position acts as a bridge between complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) designs and their physical execution, ensuring all systems meet stringent biological safety and performance standards. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in commercial construction, particularly in laboratory or healthcare environments, and possess deep technical knowledge of MEP laboratory systems and BSL-2 containment requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day field operations, ensuring project milestones and deadlines are met.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to align daily work plans, resolve on-site issues, and ensure compliance with project specifications and schedules.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for the execution of all MEP designs in laboratory construction projects.
- Ensure all BSL-2 laboratory physical secondary containment systems comply with biological safety requirements and international standards.
- Collaborate with design teams to address design challenges, propose solutions, and oversee the successful implementation of changes in field operations.
- Enforce workplace safety standards, including overseeing the development and implementation of site-specific safety protocols.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate safety hazards and risks.
- Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including progress reports, submittals, and inspection logs.
- Oversee QA/QC procedures to ensure construction and installation quality meet standards and specifications.
- Assist with budget management and project scheduling, offering insights on construction sequencing to optimize resource utilization.
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture (required).
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in commercial construction, including at least 3 years specifically in laboratory or healthcare construction environments.
- Comprehensive technical understanding of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems in laboratory construction.
- Knowledge of BSL-2 laboratory physical secondary containment requirements and biological safety standards.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, schedules, and budgets in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with construction management software and tools.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations, risk management, and hazard identification in construction environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with stakeholders, clients, and teams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail to ensure effective resolution of technical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), OSHA certification, or equivalent in construction safety management.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards for laboratory and healthcare facilities construction.
- Proven track record of successful delivery of complex projects on time and within budget.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel or relocate, as needed, for project assignments and execution.
- Applicants must be nationals of the Philippines and able to secure the necessary work permits or clearances.
