Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Fuel System Electrician to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Fuel System Electrician will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and controls for fueling systems, ensuring safety, functionality, and compliance with government regulations and standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical installation, maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fuel systems and tanks, including pumps, motors, conduits, and control panels.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues in fuel systems to ensure maximum reliability and safety.
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints related to fueling systems.
- Maintain, repair, replace, and test electrical components, wiring, and controls associated with fueling operations, ensuring compliance with all technical and safety standards.
- Test electrical circuits and equipment using appropriate tools, such as voltmeters, ammeters, and insulation resistance testers, to ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintain, calibrate, and inspect electrical equipment and control devices associated with fuel storage, transfer, and distribution infrastructure.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on fueling electrical systems and maintain documentation of all inspections, test results, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to ensure the safe and efficient operation of fuel systems and associated components.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, environmental standards, and government and industry regulations regarding fuel systems and electrical services.
- Maintain accurate records of all electrical maintenance, installations, and repairs using appropriate maintenance management systems.
- Respond promptly to system malfunctions to minimize downtime and operational interruptions for fueling systems.
- Provide technical expertise and support for fuel system upgrades, modifications, and installations as directed.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure preparedness in the event of system failures, overloads, or emergency shutdowns related to electrical systems.
Minimum Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting, specifically related to industrial or fuel systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or technical training in electrical systems and operations are highly preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with the electrical components of fuel systems, including motors, pumps, sensors, and control panels.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Experience in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting electrical/electronic components of fuel systems.
- Strong understanding of safety requirements and best practices in handling and maintaining fuel systems and electrical systems (e.g., OSHA, NEC, NFPA standards).
- Proficiency with electrical diagnostic tools, including multimeters and other related equipment.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and prepare detailed reports as required.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed Electrician or equivalent certification in electrical systems.
- Knowledge and experience working with fueling systems in government or military environments.
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
- Valid country driver’s license and passport.
- Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
- Familiarity with hazardous material regulations and electrical/fire safety procedures specific to fuel storage and transfer facilities.
- Experience with government standards, including military fuel facilities and pipeline systems.
- Competence in working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and advanced control systems.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple teams to ensure operational readiness and compliance with mission requirements.
