Job Summary
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) for the Poland BOSS Program plays a pivotal role in managing and directing occupational safety and health initiatives. This position is critical for implementing a comprehensive safety program that complies with EM385-1-1 Section 1 and 29 CFR 19126.16 requirements. Reporting directly to the Program Manager/Site Manager and indirectly to the Business Unit Health Safety and Environmental Director, the SSHO is essential in promoting a strong safety culture, conducting thorough facility surveys, and leading corrective action plans. The role is ideal for a dedicated safety professional looking to make a significant impact on our safety standards and workforce well-being.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee a safety program ensuring full compliance with EM385-1-1 Section 1 and 29 CFR 19126.16.
- Report directly to the Program Manager/Site Manager and indirectly to the Business Unit Health Safety and Environmental Director.
- Promote safety culture and policies through workforce training in safety principles and plans.
- Coordinate, administer, and oversee all Safety and Health Program activities carried out by Corporate.
- Conduct facility surveys, staff assistance visits, and audits to evaluate local program effectiveness and identify areas of nonconformance or potential liability.
- Assist project management in developing and implementing Action Plans for mitigating or eliminating adversities.
- Conduct follow-on monitoring to inform senior management of progress.
- Review data and provide monthly HSE metrics and Quarterly Progress reports.
- Compile and analyze accident, injury, and property loss data to identify root-cause relationships and trends.
- Assist management in formulating Corrective Action Plans to reduce incidents and lower insurance-related costs.
Basic Qualifications
- US Citizenship Required
- Active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) accreditation with 3+ years of experience on contracts of similar size and complexity.
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent, plus 24 hours of safety coursework every four years.
- EM 385-1-1 certification.
- Experience with Crane Lifts, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, and Fall Protection.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of First Aid/CPR with AED.
- Additional certifications or coursework in safety and health related fields.
- Demonstrated leadership in safety program implementation and management.
- Experience in conducting detailed safety audits and facility surveys.
- Strong analytical skills for compiling and analyzing safety data.
