Secure our Nation, Ignite your Future Currently, we are seeking a motivated, career and team-oriented HAZMAT Program Manager in support of The Department of Defense (DoD). This position is located at Fort Belvoir. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Create and execute a comprehensive strategy for the HAZMAT program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements Develop and manage the program budget, including forecasting, tracking expenditures, and ensuring cost-effective use of resources Ensure the program meets all federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous materials, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other relevant guidelines Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits and inspections, addressing any findings and ensuring corrective actions are implemented Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate mitigation strategies Develop, implement, and update safety protocols and procedures to protect employees and the environment Design and deliver training programs for staff on hazardous materials handling, emergency response, and safety procedures Oversee the execution of Hazmat-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget Implement performance metrics and regularly review program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed Act as a liaison between the DoD and external agencies, contractors, and stakeholders involved in hazardous materials management Communicate program goals, updates, and changes effectively to all relevant parties Develop and maintain emergency response plans for hazardous materials incidents, including spill response and containment strategies Lead response efforts in the event of a hazardous materials incident, coordinating with emergency services and ensuring effective resolution Maintain accurate records of hazardous materials usage, disposal, and incidents Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability Identify opportunities for program improvement and implement changes to enhance safety, compliance, and efficiency Collect and analyze feedback from staff and stakeholders to inform program adjustments and improvements Lead and manage the Hazmat program team, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations Allocate resources effectively to support program objectives and team needs Basic Qualifications: 10+ years of experience in HAZMAT program management or other relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field Expertise in project management, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating environmental projects effectively Proficient in conducting HAZMAT Assessment Studies, involving identification, evaluation, and mitigation of hazardous materials risks Skilled in developing comprehensive reports with detailed recommendations to enhance safety measures, HAZMAT management, and regulatory compliance Preferred Qualifications: Experience in large-scale, multi-phase programs or projects, preferably with the DoD or other federal agencies Active project management certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar Active safety certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar Experience in a DoD or government environment is highly advantageous Master’s degree in environmental science, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field Security Clearance Requirements: US citizenship with active Secret clearance Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations The projected compensation range for this position is $106,000-$150,400. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
