A Senior Linux System Administrator Maintains an organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software

Environment is 80% or more Linux/UNIX and 20% or less Windows with 600+ Physical and virtual servers covering various levels of very complex classified systems and networks.

Responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.

Provide operating systems planning and evaluation for performance analysis, capacity planning and hardware upgrades.

Provide specialized expertise within multiple IT systems such as: Windows 2016/2019 server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMWare hypervisor, VMWare Horizon, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines. This would include performing installation, administration, troubleshooting and support of server operating systems/services, storage, and Data Center solutions.

Oversee the implementation of system specifications; integration, testing, and documentation are a key part of the role.

Exhibit strong technical skills as they relate to numerous systems and storage technologies including but not limited to: Windows Server 2016/2019, Microsoft SQL Server, DC’s/DNS, DFS, Active Directory, Group Policy Management, DHCP, IIS, VMware ESXi 7, NetApp ONTAP, Cisco UCS/Nexus, ACAS , SCCM, Hyper-V.

System administration and IT certification in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields required

Working knowledge of Administration and maintenance of Bare Metal hypervisors (VMWare, XenServer, Hyper-V, etc.)

Working knowledge of Administration and maintenance of configuration management / automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.)

Working knowledge of Administration and maintenance of Unix/Linux Operating System

Working knowledge of SAN storage configuration and maintenance

Working knowledge of Basic enterprise networking configuration and maintenance; routing, redistribution, ACLs, NAT, VPN, Layer 2/3 switching, monitoring solutions (Solarwinds/Splunk), encryption devices (KG175, KG250, etc)

Must have 10+ years working in a Linux or Windows Environment (Windows Server 2016/2019, RHEL, CentOS, etc.)

Experience with troubleshooting and issue resolution principles, methodologies and techniques

Basic knowledge Oracle and SQL database management

Advanced knowledge of virtualization, VMware or equivalent

Working knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols

Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices; including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols

Experience with scripting and automation tools

Good communications skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through

The likely salary range for this position is $140,250 - $189,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
