Job Description
This lead engineer role will be responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development and maintenance of data and AI software products. The candidate is a self-motivated individual who can collaborate with a team and across the organization. The candidate takes responsibility of the software artifacts produced adhering to U.S. Bank standards in order to ensure minimal impact to the customer experience. The candidate will be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Applying machine learning and new AI technologies to software products, develop and shape our technical strategy to further grow digital solutions for SMB business
- Architect/design infra and software environments needed to both build and run machine learning models and online services
- Develop and implement efficient and scalable machine learning pipelines and workflows for training, validation, and deployment of models.
- Design and build rule engine, enhance it with AI capabilities
- Design and implement data pipeline and software used to acquire and transform the data for use in the models
- Build shared components and/or frameworks that improve engineering productivity across the organization
- Design and implement monitoring and testing frameworks to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of machine learning models in production environments
- Work with other engineering teams to integrate machine learning models into applications and services.
- Deploy and maintain ML Models in production
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in MLOps, machine learning, and data management
- Experience with risk and fraud management is preferred
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- Six to eight years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Master’s degree or above, majoring in Computer Science, Data Science or related fields.
- Good hands-on coding skills: Python/Java, SQL, Shell scripting
- Familiar with distributed processing frameworks such as Spark, Flink, Hadoop/Hive
- Familiar with Snowflake and/or Data bricks
- Experience with large scale real-time data ingestion and processing
- Have a solid theoretical and engineering foundation in computer science, machine learning or computer vision, and is familiar with up-to-date technologies including ML pipeline and infra, data mining, rule engine and distributed computing.
- 5+ years of relevant development experience in recommendation systems, ads, time series analysis, image processing, natural language processing etc.
- Experience with AI/ML libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch
- Experience designing system architectures and applications in cloud-based environments and basic MLOps pipeline experience
- Good AWS knowledge and hands-on Terraform development- In-depth understanding of common Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms.
- Good team player, communication skills and project management experience.
- Good product sense, and can lead the rhythm in projects.
Location Expectations
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $129,455.00 - $152,300.00 - $167,530.00
