John Deere Waterloo Works: Sheet Metal and/or Plastics Maintenance
As aSheet Metal and/or Plastics Maintenanceemployeewith John Deere Waterloo Works, you will:
Use a wide variety of departmental machines, tools, and production equipment in a fast paced, multi-tasked environment. This includes laying out, developing, fabricating, erecting, installing, and maintaining all types of sheet metal and/or plastic material/parts for factory equipment and buildings.
Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following:
- Lay out, develops, fabricate, erect, install, and maintain ducts, piping, flow boxes, dampers, filters, elbows, tees, flanges, collars, fittings, tanks, machine guards, tool trays, boxes, cabinets, material handling containers and equipment, gutters and down spouts for factory equipment and buildings.
- Work from prints, sketches, samples, or templates and written or oral instructions.
- Plan work sequence, select materials and tools.
- Use shop mathematics, handbook formulae and measuring, marking and layout equipment to layout and develop material and parts. Make templates, if necessary.
- Fabricate, erect, install and maintain all types of sheet metal and/or plastic using hand, portable and power tools, and equipment to cut, punch, bend, form, bead, drill, grind, solder, weld, and assemble material and parts as required.
- Plastic work includes plastic, plasticized, polyvinyl chloride and polypropylene materials and parts for factory equipment and buildings.
- Spark test all plastic welds.
- Lubricate and clean equipment.
- Assist and support other team members and work with minimal supervision.
- Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.
- Work shifts (choice of shift based on seniority).
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have at least one of the following:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
- At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience
- At least 3 years of sheet metal and/or plastics maintenance experience:
- Including use of applicable tools and processes and experience working from prints, sketches, samples, templates, and written or oral instructions.
Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift – with or without reasonable accommodation; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Ability and willingness to work potential overtime (including weekends).
