Senior Network Systems Administrator

KBR is seeking a Senior Network Systems Administrator (current/active Secret Clearance) to join our Counter-UAS team in support of our DoD customers in St. Inigoes, MD. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise in system engineering and computer networking to develop, design, and integrate advanced hardware and software systems that facilitate local, regional, and wide-area networks. You will interface directly with government customers and collaborate with Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) teams, ensuring that our network solutions are robust, secure, and optimized for mission-critical applications. This position currently requires an on-site schedule with five days on-site, and the schedule may change based on company and contract requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Network Design & Optimization: Review and analyze detailed network designs and configurations, ensuring they align with architectural standards and optimizing them based on real-world applications.
- Documentation & Compliance: Create, update, and maintain essential system-level documentation, including block diagrams, Simple Network Diagrams (SND), Detailed Network Diagrams (DND), and router & switch configuration templates.
- Security Implementation: Implement Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for networks and operating systems, securing all aspects of the infrastructure. Assist in preparing IATT and ATO packages for lab environments.
- Installation Support: Provide expert guidance during on-site installations, establishing network connections and ensuring seamless integration of hardware and software systems. Troubleshooting & Reliability: Utilize your engineering expertise and problem-solving skills to address and resolve network issues, restoring reliability and performance to critical systems. Collaboration & Communication: Actively participate in weekly meetings, providing status updates and contributing to written documentation for procedures, trip reports, and network analysis. Research & Testing: Conduct research and testing on the latest state-of-the-art information technologies using tools like Wireshark to enhance network capabilities. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments and IT staff on infrastructure activities, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance system capabilities. Project Planning & Execution: Lead the planning and implementation of future IT development projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and delivering high-quality results.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a US Citizen with an active/current DoD Secret Clearance.
Years of Experience & Education Requirements:
- BS/BA in Computer Science from an accredited US institution and at least four (4) years of relevant experience
- AA/AS in STEM-related field from an accredited US institution and 8 years of relevant experience
- High School Diploma and 12 years of relevant experience
Travel: Ability to travel for work 25% to 40% (CONUS and OCONUS)
Other: Must be able to move/lift up to 50 lbs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in Computer Engineering and 6 years of experience in computer engineering with 10 years of overall experience.
- Familiarity with Webster Field and NAS Patuxent River RDT&E network infrastructure
- Cisco CCNP Certification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visio
- Experience with wireless or microwave point-to-point networking
- Experience with IPSEC VPN and L2TP
- Familiarity with Linux - RHEL, SUNOS systems
- Current U.S. Passport
Compensation: $117,000-$176,220. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
