Program Summary
As part of the LOGCAP NORTHCOM scope, KBR provides rapid response support to scheduled and unscheduled U͘S͘ Army training exercises. KBR’s LOGCAP team successfully completed another year of support to Warfighter operations by providing typical LOGCAP services at two locations
Job Summary
Under general direction and with little guidance, repairs and assesses malfunctions, rebuilds, and performs maintenance on heavy equipment common to construction and military operations, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, tanks, personnel carriers, large diesel trucks, compressors and pneumatic tools. Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantle/reassemble equipment, examine parts for damage or excessive wear, etc. Replaces defective engines and subassemblies. Tests repaired/overhauled equipment to insure safe operating efficiency. May be responsible for welding broken parts, structures and other machinery/attachments. Requires High School graduation or equivalent and 3 years of experience as heavy equipment mechanic. Trade school training may be preferred. Specific contract qualifications will prevail, if different.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Analyze malfunctions and repair
- Rebuild, and maintain power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools.
- Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects
- Dismantle, and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges
- Replace defective engines and subassembly, such as transmission, and test overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency.
- Weld broken parts and structural members
- At times direct workers engaged in cleaning parts
- Assist with assembly and disassembly of equipment
- Repair, adjust, and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling, and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines.
- Monitor the work of less experienced mechanics; provide technical assistance in diagnosing problems beyond the capacity of assigned personnel; and maintain a safe work record.
- A good working knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines
- An understanding of the needs of the organization serviced
- Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data to establish the facts, and take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- 18 years of age
- Must have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- Must possess a valid State-issued Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for at least two continuous hours.
- Must be able to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment
- Must be able to work in cramped areas for at least two continuous hours
- Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, and snow and sleet
- Lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 50 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds

- Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
- Basic Compensation: $41.94
