Program Summary
KBR provides full-spectrum base operations support to Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia, a remote location in the British Indian Ocean Territory. Our robust supply chain ensures on-time delivery of mission-critical supplies, and our team conducts essential port and airfield operations in this geographically complex environment. The KBR team is over 1,000 people strong, providing not only life support services such as water treatment, electricity, and telecom/antenna maintenance, but also quality of life services like Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) and an award-winning dining facility.
Job Summary
Supports the Fire Chief in managing the fire department's operations to always maintain mission readiness. Develop, coordinate, and implement programs, policies, regulations, and procedures, while acting as a technical advisor to management on all fire protection and prevention issues.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversees the Assistant Fire Chiefs for Operations, Training, Prevention, and the Dispatch Center.
- Reports to the Fire Chief regarding the overall operation of the fire station, ensuring complete contract compliance.
- Conducts inspections of fire stations, storage facilities, grounds, fire trucks, and equipment (including ladders and hoses) to verify adherence to departmental maintenance standards.
- Regularly responds to emergencies alongside the Assistant Fire Chief for Operations to support and assess firefighting strategies and tactics.
- Assesses both classroom and practical training sessions to ensure personnel efficiency.
- Supervises and coordinates the activities of fire companies during multiple alarm fires until higher command takes over.
- Aids in the formulation of standard operating procedures and plans for the Fire Department.
- Attends the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as needed for training exercises or actual emergencies.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Fire Chief.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a citizen of the US or UK.
- Must have at least a High School diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s degree in Fire Sciences or a closely related field; each 3 years of experience as a Fire Chief may substitute for 1 year of college education.
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and understanding the English language.
- Must pass overseas medical screening and maintain good health.
- Required to hold a country and government driver's license.
- Must possess a secret clearance.

- Fire Officer I, II, III, and IV)
- Fire Instructor I and II - III is highly desired

- Public Safety Telecommunicator I and II – is highly desired
- HAZMAT Incident Commander
- HAZMAT Awareness
- HAZMAT Operations with Mission-Specific Competencies, Personal Protective Equipment, and Product Control
- Adult CPR/AED Training from American Red Cross
