The Role
As a NASCAR Performance Engineer, you will work within the GM Motorsports organization with a focus on identifying key areas capable of yielding on-track performance improvement. This will encompass a combination of regular, weekly tasks to support GM sponsored NASCAR Truck and Xfinity teams and intermittent deep-dive investigations removed from the preparation for, and analysis of, specific events. These investigations will include research into prior event performance and results, race strategy, car build and setup, and implementation/application of simulation models for vehicle performance prediction. A key aspect of this role will involve working with the GM sponsored racing teams to both convey analysis findings and develop/expand their understanding of how to use and interpret the results of GM motorsports tools.
This position will leverage resources across the GM Motorsports program to develop recommendations to increase the competitiveness of GM Motorsports NCTS and NXS teams. This position will work closely with the GM Motorsports Simulation group to refine simulations and advance analysis methodologies. Coordination with GM production engineering, GM IT, GM Motorsports personnel, and GM race teams will be essential in both developing underlying knowledge and implementing solutions.
