Program Summary
The Fort Irwin National Training Center is a major training area for the United States military and is located in the Mojave Desert in northern San Bernardino County, California. KBR provides maintenance and logistics services to customers at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California to support the U.S. Army building brigade combat team readiness with ten annual training rotations.
Job Summary
As a Laborer, at the National Training Center, you will maintain the upkeep of common areas and perform related duties to include but not limited to the following: clean and maintain all break areas, restrooms, common use areas, hazmat containment area and wash racks. As required, you will respond to HAZMAT incidents in a timely manner, as well as clean shop and work areas to include offices as needed and ensure the yard is free of trash and debris.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Police fence lines and grounds areas to remove trash and clutter.
- Clean shop areas, work areas, break areas and restrooms.
- Clean up HAZMAT spills and containment area.
- Train, mentor, and enhance the performance of co-workers and other personnel.
- Train, cross-train and attend training as required.
- Participate in the Zero Harm Culture and Safety program, Company Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and Quality Control programs.
- Comply with all Company rules, policies, and procedures.
- Comply with all safety, environmental and quality standards and applicable COPs and DOPs.
- Comment and report as required.
- Utilize all proper lifting procedures and practices associated with all lifting and material handling tasks that are assigned and associated with this job description.
- Provide for accountability and proper care of all government furnished equipment and contractor furnished equipment.
- Favorably interact with internal/external customers and fellow employees.
- On an as needed basis, be required, to assist in performing functions in alternate areas of the project.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Must be able to pass a U.S. Government background investigation and obtain base access. Due to this, you must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Green Card holder who has lived within the United States for at least the last 3 years to be eligible for this position.
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Must be able to work under stressful circumstances and meet short suspense dates.
- Must be flexible as duties and assignments may vary based on project requirements.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to team-lift up to 100 pounds in a two-person carry.
- Requires the ability to use crowbars, brooms, mops, sledgehammers and related items.
- Must be able to stand, stoop, crawl and climb as necessary to perform job functions using proper techniques while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
- Must be free of medical restrictions/limitations that prevent the performance of required duties and/or prevent the wearing and utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Must be physically capable of performing the work in conditions of extreme temperatures, low humidity, rain and blowing sand and dust.
- May be required to work on uncommon hours of duty, extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain a military operator’s permit for each type of vehicle or equipment required to operate.
- Must be able to meet CMF criteria in accordance with DA PAM 611-21 and AR 601-210.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Prior experience as a Laborer.
Pay
- Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
- Basic Compensation: $20.99
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
This position is represented by the Teamsters Union.
