Assistant Fire Chief (Training)
- Under general direction of the Fire Services Chief, responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) training and certification program on a full-time basis.
- Leads, directs and supervises the F&ES department in delivering professional F&ES to clients and customers within the Area of Responsibility served by KBR F&ES. Prepares consolidated F&ES Departmental Reports.
- Reviews and validates F&ES training and personnel actions.
- Reviews and evaluates Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements as they relate to training requirements and provides recommendations to the Fire Chief.
- In the absence of the F&ES Chief, shall represent F&ES by providing reports, briefings, attending meetings, inspections and presentations representing F&ES to KBR, customer(s), and client(s). Assist the Fire Chief in developing and implementing an overall company long-term strategic plan involving fire protection. Plans, administers, and supervises the training function.
- When needed, assumes duties and responsibilities of Fire Chief, Assistant Chief of Operations, or any other position qualified to perform.
Certifications / Experience
Required:
- The candidate must have a minimum of three years’ experience as an Assistant Fire Chief for Training in a fire department of the size and scope of Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa.
- The candidate must have current IFSAC, ProBoard, or Department of Defense (DoD): Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor III, Fire Inspector II, Hazmat Incident Commander, and Airport Firefighter. HazMat Awareness and Operations. CPR and Emergency Medical Responder.
- Position requires U.S. Citizenship and security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain.
Preferred:
Driver Operator Pumper, Driver Operator ARFF, Driver Operator MWS, Driver Operator Aerial. NIMS/FEMA 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800.
HazMat Technician
Rescue Technician (Rope / Confined Space / Trench / Structural Collapse / Vehicle)
Additional Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Coordinate and train all fire personnel to maintain the required certification and recertification standards.
- Have a thorough knowledge of modern fire prevention, suppression principles, practices, and equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of departmental rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of department computer systems and software applications (ESAMS).
- The ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form and to make effective public presentations.
- Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Have the ability to present motivational, informative and effective training programs. Be able to assess all services provided by F&ES department that are associated with the protection and preservation of life, property and the environment, consistent with KBR approved policies, KBR BOSS (PWS), and in accordance with national recognized standards for safety, personnel, and equipment. Provide guidance and input to facilitate resourcing F&ES for success through staffing, training and equipping as required to maintain levels of readiness and response. The position requires public speaking capabilities.
- This position advises senior leadership, Fire Managers, Fire Chiefs, Project Managers, client and other supervisors on Department of Defense (DoD) F&ES subjects.
- Will recommend administrative personnel actions lAW KBR policies. Reviews and files reports, monthly summaries, and vehicle and personnel rosters. Writes routine reports and correspondence using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook software.
- Fills in for Assistant Fire Chief-Operations or for Fire Chief when needed.
- May be assigned to fill in for Operations personnel assigned to apparatus crews.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
