As a Safety Coordinator at Caterpillar, you will assist the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) team with most of their tasks. You will assist in oversight of the Clayton, OH Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD) safety program and any associated activities.
Shifts Available:
Third Shift: Sunday-Thursday, 11:00pm-7:00am

Job Duties:
Incumbent is responsible for assistance in management of PSLD site safety programs and working with EH&S team to develop and execute plans to achieve compliance and goals.
Maintains reports required metrics for safety and environmental requirements. Attention to detail is critical and incumbent is expected to lead projects to deliver results in all areas of responsibility. Will have direct contact with other team members to ensure compliance with safety programs.
Uses readily available references & provides straightforward solutions to problems. Collects & evaluates data & develops plans for assignments. Works with PSLD EH&S Representatives to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
Partially manages own development, with the assistance of local EH&S. Learning will focus on methods, processes and systems applied to the EH&S discipline, practical application of theory, communications and building knowledge of Caterpillar’s methods, practices, and programs.
Focal point for site safety compliance and safety culture. Performs various assignments to support management of site, contractor safety and environmental programs.
Supports Site EH&S Team in variety of other duties such as but not limited to:
- EH&S Training Execution/ Tracking
- Powered Industrial Truck Program Management
- Management of Site Safety Playbook
- EH&S Incident Investigation
- Risk assessment
- Ergonomic assessments
- Compliance/Written Programs and Processes
- Observation and Audit Tracking
- Safety Campaigns and PID Engagement
- Managing Fall Protection Program
Basic Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in an Environmental Health & Safety role
- At least six months of experience in operating heavy machinery such as: Forklifts, Cherry/Order Pickers, Loaders, etc.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to compose, write, and communicate safety related information is essential.
- Strong teamwork skills needed, including the ability to work effectively with all levels of employees.
- Must be self-starter, i.e. quick learner and able to research and learn on his/her own.
- Fluent working with computers and Microsoft Office programs
- Experience working with or in a safety department for safety projects or campaigns
- Proven experience in effectively facilitating team meetings and conduct training programs.
- A basic knowledge of standard OSHA requirements
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- A degree in an appropriate scientific discipline is highly desired or a 2-year degree with EHS experience.
- Experience is leading culture-change initiatives
- Experience training others on equipment, managing a powered industrial vehicle program
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds for intervals of 15-30 minutes.
- Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
- Walk, squat, and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willingness to be trained with pneumatic tools and industrial vehicles
