Position Description/Job Responsibilities
KBR is looking for an experienced Benefits Principal to support our U.S. Benefits Team. The Benefits Principal will oversee the administration of employee benefit programs, ensuring compliance with company policies, government regulations and industry best practices. In this role you will manage daily operations in a fast changing, dynamic environment, act as a subject matter expert and project manage implementations and ongoing day-to-day activities. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires innovative thinking, collaborative partnership with internal and external groups and operational execution to deliver exceptional service to our people and businesses.
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
The primary responsibility of this role is to serve as a lead for all aspects of US Benefits administration (including Health and Welfare, Leave of Absence, and Retirement and Savings/401k). Reporting to the Benefits Director, the person in this role will ensure benefit programs are effectively and efficiently delivered.
Vendor management for health & welfare and Retirement & Savings vendors. Ensure vendors adhere to contractual requirements and deliver high quality services.
Partner with HR, Legal, and Health & Safety, HRIS and IT on benefits matters.
Implement new vendors/plans from end-to-end including participating in RFP process, implementation project management, change management, follow up after installation to audit for problems internally and externally.
Resolve complex / escalated employee claim and eligibility issues with HRIS, payroll and vendors as needed.
Participant in annual enrollment planning, testing and employee meetings.
Collaborate with the HR/People team and internal and external communications teams to ensure clarity and accuracy in all benefit communications.
Work with external consultants and Benefits Director to analyze benefits program data to identify trends, opportunities for cost savings, and potential improvements to ensure employee satisfaction. Present findings to leadership with recommendations for program enhancements.
Presentations to employees in-person or virtually as needed.
Support billing, reporting and special projects as they arise.
Support in preparation of regulatory documents including Form 5500’s, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), Summaries of Material Modifications (SMMs) and Summary Annual Reports (SARs)
Demonstrate professional ethics and compliance with regulatory requirements for Health & Welfare and Retirement & Savings Plans.
Supervise team of benefit professionals including providing coaching, feedback and support and guidance on their day-to-day work.
Requirements/Qualifications
HR experience within a high volume, fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision at a global public company. Solid knowledge of Health and Welfare and 401(k) plans
5+ years benefits experience with two years in a supervisory/team lead role
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Human Resources (benefits preferred)
Understanding of benefits laws and regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, etc.).
Experience acting as a lead for vendor implementations/changes
Solid commitment to employee engagement and satisfaction
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Strong organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail required
Strong technical skills required for Excel (must know pivots VLOOKUP’s and other common Excel formulas), Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Ability to learn systems quickly such as HRIS and related programs
Ability to understand downstream impacts from and to the Benefits Functional Area when implementing system enhancements
Commitment to ethics and compliance
Workday and SAP experience is a plus
