Job Summary
The Electronic Components Branch (RYDD) of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Sensors Directorate at Wright Patterson AFB, OH is looking for a part time research scientist. The candidate will focus on structural, electrical, and thermal characterization of high-power radio frequency high electron mobility transitions (HEMTs) as part of an on-going AFRL research project. A successful applicant should be able to quickly contribute to this project, working collaboratively with a diverse group, and generating new ideas and solutions to problems.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Structural, electrical, and thermal characterization of high-power radio frequency HEMTs
- DC transistor characterization and atomic force microscopy
- Characterization and analysis of surface characterization
- Device and thermal characterization in GaN and AlGaN/GaN HEMTs
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Physics or related Engineering field from an accredited university with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the related field.
- Expertise in characterization and analysis of surface characterization, device and thermal characterization in GaN and AlGaN/GaN HEMTs
- Excellent understanding of device theory and device reliability particularly related to GaN HEMTs
- Expertise with DC transistor characterization and atomic force microscopy
- Must be a US citizen and meet Air Force Research Laboratory requirements to access Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S in Physics or related Engineering field from an accredited university
- Prior experience with thermal characterization techniques is a major plus
- Must be self-motivated, be able to work independently
- Must have good communication skills, both oral and written
- Must be computer literate
