How you’ll make an impact:
Carter’s Sustainability Department is responsible for setting the company’s sustainability strategy and commitments, working cross-divisionally to implement initiatives that support our efforts to be a more sustainable brand.
This role reports to the Senior Director of Sustainability and is based on-site in our Atlanta office. This role is responsible for supporting Carter’s Sustainability and ESG goals.
- Sustainability data management (70%):
- Calculate Carter’s annual greenhouse gas Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions inventory
- Measure progress towards our science-based Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduction target, and utilize supplier data to support the setting of a Scope 3 reduction target
- Compile waste generation data from Carter’s offices, distribution centers, and retail stores, and track progress towards landfill diversion goals
- Collaborate across divisions to support packaging reduction and sustainability by leveraging packaging data to comply with packaging and waste regulations, internationally and domestically
- Compile water consumption data from corporate office, distribution centers, retail stores, and suppliers, and track progress towards water reduction efforts
- Support annual external verification of environmental key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Manage implementation of Envizi and leverage the tool for ongoing reporting and analysis of environmental KPIs, incl. energy consumption, waste generation, and water reduction across the business
- External ESG rankings and ratings (30%):
- Support the compilation and submittal of various sustainability/ESG-related questionnaires and assessments, e.g. CDP, S&P Global CSA, Sustainalytics, ISS
- Identify and address gaps in Carter’s public disclosures and ESG questionnaire responses in order to improve external ESG rankings and ratings
We’d Love to hear from you if:
Must have:
- Strong data management and carbon accounting skills to drive effective outcomes
- Previous experience with greenhouse gas inventory calculations
- Proficiency in Excel, Tableau, etc.
- B.S. or M.S. and 3-5 years work experience in a field related to environmental sciences, sustainability, data management, mathematics, or finance
Preferred skills and experience:
