Job Summary:
The Senior Systems Engineer works as a member of the Systems Integration Group to identify optimized product solutions and configurations for customers of the EMEA HVAC Business. Specifically, the candidate will analyze design trade-offs and present recommendations to enable customer team to select the correct requirements for NPD programs.
Responsibilities:
- Drive clear Customer Needs & Requirements at the beginning of NPD programs by partnering with Product Management and Platform Engineering teams to provide system simulation and optimization.
- Work across product portfolio development teams to optimize overall system design to maintain relative cost competitiveness vs competitive landscape.
- Use batch refrigeration system simulation capabilities to identify optimal system construction.
- Lead discussions between different platform product teams to ensure alignment on feature sets and product design execution.
- Lead brainstorming exercises to help the product teams select optimal executions of new technologies.
- Perform analysis on internal and competitive refrigeration system ratings to understand gaps and competitive positioning opportunities.
- Work collaboratively across platform engineering teams using set-based design principles to brainstorm & identify optimal design solutions (cost, timing & quality).
- Work with the Systems Engineering Leader and Director to establish product design guidelines for HVAC Product Modular Architecture with Platform Engineering teams.
- Assist the Systems Engineering Leader and Director in developing the Systems Engineering Standard Work Process
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in Thermodynamics, heat Transfer and refrigeration and 5+ years engineering experience on unitary or chiller design
Key Competencies:
- Refrigeration System simulation & design experience is required.
- Significant experience with data analysis tools such as Tableau and Excel preferred but not required.
- Intellectual curiosity for performing analysis and solving problems.
- Results-oriented individual with an emphasis placed on achieving overall team performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English. French is preferred, but not necessary.
- Works effectively in an open consensus-oriented team environment.
- Conflict management skills.
- Aptitude and love of presentations to large audiences and all levels of leadership.
- Airflow system design and testing experience a plus.
- Electrical wiring and/or controls experience a plus.
- Big data analysis experience a plus
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Lean Expert certification a plus.
- Familiar with CE, UL and GB standards preferred
