The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.
We are looking for a Sr. Staff Engineer to unify and advance the technical strategy across all of Job Seeker Growth. The team is responsible for high-traffic member-facing surfaces like Jobs Home and Job Seeker Communications, for products such as Job Collections, Job recommendations, and Open To Work, and strategic bets such as expanding outside of professional segments. In this role, you’ll act as a tech lead, building for massive scale and collaborating on innovative solutions across R&D, particularly using AI to drive job seeker value and expand business impact.
Responsibilities:
• You will set the direction to platforms that power multiple teams and products
• You will deliver impact by driving innovation while building and shipping software at scale
• You will provide architectural guidance and mentorship to uplevel the engineering organization
• You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7
• You will execute on product and technical workstreams by collaborating with engineering, product managers, designers, other software development teams, and business partners
• You will actively improve the level of craftsmanship at LinkedIn by developing best practices and defining best strategies
• You will design products/services/tools and code that can be used by others while upholding operational impact of all decisions
• You will identify problems and opportunities and lead teams to architect, design, implement and operationalize systems
• You will work closely with and influence product and/or technology partners regularly to help define a long-term technology roadmap
• You will resolve conflicts between teams within the organization to get alignment and build team culture
• You will create a collaborative work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, innovation, and learning
• You will be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship
• You will work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack
• You will review others’ work and share knowledge
Basic Qualifications:
• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions
• 5+ years of experience in programming languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, C#
• 3+ years of experience in an architect or technical leadership position
Preferred Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions
• 5+ years in an architect or technical leadership position
• Experience with machine learning or related technology
• Experience building large-scale consumer products
• Experience in designing and implementing technologies for highly distributed platforms
• Experience in leading cross-organization, cross-functional efforts and successfully delivering transformational technology for hard problems
• Relevant experience leading engineers across multiple skill sets (e.g. Application/Backend, UI/Frontend, iOS/Android/Mobile)
• Active involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmaps

The pay range for this role is $171,000 to $280,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
