Work You’ll Do
Provide tax planning and consulting work for multinational clients in order to help them comply with both U.S. and international regulatory requirements and develop an optimal worldwide tax strategy. Advise clients on areas such as intellectual property (IP) migration (migrating from a legal ownership model of IP to a risk-return model as recommended by the OECD under the BEPS program). Develop models for international tax compliance efforts and issues to automate and streamline various tax processes using Excel functionalities and VBA programming. Complete the ASC 740 packages, rolling over tax provision data, patching foreign exchange rates, and generating tax packages. Perform research on technical areas such as foreign tax credits, expense allocation and apportionment. Review the work product of consultants and interns on foreign tax credit and overall foreign loss projects. Lead client service teams in implementing global income tax provision tools including overseeing the completion of tax provision packages, managing client relationships, enhancing the tax provision tools, leading client trainings and responding to technical questions raised by clients. Leading Earnings and Profits (E&P) projects by coaching consultants and interns on the E&P technical areas, reviewing their work product and preparing the deliverables (E&P Memos and work papers).
Requirements
Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Law, Taxation, Business Administration or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 18 months of experience in the job offered or in a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience creating technical solutions and customized modeling to solve tax data management problems.
Experience must include 18 months of:
- performing Foreign Tax Credits("FTC") planning including preparing FTC calculations, sourcing of income, income basketing, overall foreign loss calculations, calculation of the indirect FTCs, FTC limitations, interest apportionment and the determination of tax basis of assets;
- assisting clients with the preparation of the global income tax provision as required under ASC 740 including assisting with the calculation of the deferred tax balances, taxes payable, and effective tax rate reconciliations;
- performing international tax process automation and improvement by using advanced Excel functions, including Power Query;
- performing Earnings and Profits and tax pool calculations including identifying and calculating balance sheet and P&L E&P adjustments, unrealized foreign exchange losses/gains, intercompany interest, provisional concessional fees, reserves, and prepaid expenses;
- performing international tax compliance including the preparation of 5471, 8865, 8858, 1118, 1116 & 1120-Fs and the accompanying statements using tax preparation software, including Corptax, GoSystems, CCH, and SuperForms;
- researching tax technical issues including foreign tax credits, expense allocation and apportionment, Earnings and Profits by utilizing tax research tools, including Checkpoint, BNA, CCH and LexisNexis; and
- mentoring and coaching junior staff members.
