This key role of Engineering Team Leader is within the Large Power Systems Division Core Packaging group. As an Engineering Team Leader, you will lead a team of design control engineers to solve complex technical problems and lead technical discussions related to genset package mechanical systems. This position will lead the planning and delivery of projects for cost, time and quality as well as mentor and coach team members while staying abreast of current/innovative technologies and deepening their professional network. You will also be responsible to support and manage the team workload along with leading project initiatives while demonstrating product development excellence.
What you will do:
- Provide technical guidance and mentor team members
- Lead global team in the design of new products, processes and/or systems
- Lead discussions and manage customer’s requirements and expectations
- Resolves complex design issues
- Lead robust product development excellence initiatives
- Lead validation discussions
- Responsible for delivering robust and validated design on time and cost to meet deliverables
- Evaluate and take action on shop support requests
- Ability to communicate technical information in a succinct and accurate manner
- Lead product and supplier strategies with long term vision
- Collaborate with cross functional teams
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field is preferred
Top candidates will also have:
- Masters degree in an Engineering or relevant field
- Engine installation and cooling/engine system integration experience
- Structures design experience
- Factory support experience
- Experience with Creo or other modelling tools
- Knowledge of and experience in APQP, NPI, CPI and NTI processes is a plus
- Supplier/component strategy experience
- Strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to lead teams and mentor them
- Exhibited the ability to begin working independently and have demonstrated ability to apply theory and concept to product design

Requirements Analysis: Extensive knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Product Design and Development: Extensive knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Products and Services: Working knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.

- Travel up to 10% is possible for this position
Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
