Job Description Summary
The Distribution Operations Executive Leader – Global Logistics is responsible for end-to-end leadership of global distribution operations, including regional warehouses, finished goods inventory hubs, and logistics networks supporting customers and internal sites worldwide. Based in Evendale, this role provides strategic and operational leadership across all distribution locations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient material flow while delivering on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) targets and driving continuous improvement and team development.
Operating within GE Aerospace’s redesigned logistics model, this leader ensures that all distribution nodes execute in tight alignment with the Global Logistics Control Tower, which governs and orchestrates transportation, customs, warehouse planning, and fulfillment across both MRO / Aftermarket and Production / Engine Assembly flows.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Global Distribution Network Management:
- Lead and coordinate distribution operations across a global network of warehouses, distribution centers, and 3PL partners.
- Define strategy for a best-in-class distribution network, including network design, standardization, and deployment of automation and digital capabilities.
- Define and standardize global distribution processes, service levels, and performance expectations, ensuring consistent execution of receiving, picking, packing, and shipping across all sites.
- Establish clear service models for different flows (e.g., MRO / Aftermarket vs Production / Engine Assembly), ensuring each node understands and executes to the right speed, stability, and cost expectations.
- Operate global warehouse nodes in alignment with the Global Logistics Control Tower, following agreed plans, priorities, and service levels for transportation, customs, warehouse planning, and fulfillment.
Safety, Quality, and Compliance:
- Champion a safety-first culture across all distribution locations, ensuring adherence to EHS standards and safe work practices.
- Ensure global compliance with internal quality procedures and external regulatory requirements, including FAA regulations, hazmat governance, export control, customs, and specific customer requirements.
- Drive global incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for safety and quality events.
Delivery & Cost Performance – Global KPIs:
- Own global distribution KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, shipping accuracy, inventory accuracy, distribution cycle time, warehouse productivity).
- Optimize global logistics flows, inventory positioning, and capacity utilization to meet customer Delivery requirements at optimal Cost.
- Partner with Planning, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Regional Leaders, and Customer Support to resolve constraints impacting global shipments and material availability.
People Leadership & Organizational Development:
- Lead, coach, and develop distribution leaders, supervisors, and teams across the global network (directly and through matrixed/regional structures).
- Set clear expectations, standard work, and governance for distribution teams worldwide, ensuring alignment with company priorities and the Global Logistics Control Tower.
- Foster a culture of respect, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement across all locations.
Continuous Improvement & Transformation:
- Drive global continuous improvement using lean tools (e.g., standard work, visual management, problem solving, Kaizen) across all distribution nodes.
- Lead transformation initiatives in warehousing, automation, and digital tools (e.g., WMS enhancements, scanning, analytics, control tower integrations).
- Identify, harmonize, and implement best practices and performance standards across regions.
Stakeholder & Customer Management:
- Serve as the global distribution focal point for internal and external stakeholders (Programs, Regions, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Finance, key customers).
- Provide regular communication on global distribution performance, risks, and recovery plans to senior leadership.
- Ensure regional customer needs and priorities are clearly understood and translated into distribution execution strategies.
Digital Warehouse Operations, Data Integrity & Automation:
- Build and sustain a digital backbone for distribution operations, including standardized use of WMS, scanning, and data capture to provide a single source of truth for inventory, location, and shipment status, integrated with the Global Logistics Control Tower.
- Drive scan integrity and milestone discipline within warehouses (receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping), ensuring reliable, real-time data feeds into the Global Logistics Control Tower for ETA modeling, SLA monitoring, and exception-based management.
- Lead deployment of automation and advanced technologies (e.g., optimized storage systems, mechanization, picking technologies, workflow automation, analytics dashboards) to increase throughput, accuracy, and labor productivity.
- Promote exception-based warehouse management, where digital tools and alerts surface issues early and teams focus on solving root causes rather than manual status chasing, in line with the Control Tower’s predictive visibility model.
Network Resilience, Proximity & Business Continuity:
- Shape, in partnership with Network Design, Planning, and the Global Logistics Control Tower, the physical warehouse and hub footprint (e.g., regional MRO hubs, production staging locations) to balance speed, cost, working capital, and risk exposure.
- Ensure each node has robust business continuity plans, including alternate processes and backup routing that support enterprise resilience and dual-routing strategies defined at the control tower level.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 8 years of experience in logistics, distribution, warehousing, or supply chain; including leading multi-site or regional/global operations with significant people leadership responsibility.
Desired Characteristics and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years in logistics, distribution, warehousing, or supply chain, including 5+ years leading multi-site or regional/global operations with significant people leadership responsibility.
- Technical: Proven experience managing complex distribution networks; strong understanding of global logistics, export/import and regulatory requirements (including FAA), inventory management, and ERP/WMS systems.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead leaders (not just individual contributors), influence across regions and functions, and drive performance improvement and change at scale.
- Global mindset and experience operating across regions, time zones, and cultures.
- Strong safety and compliance orientation with a record of improving EHS and regulatory performance, including aviation-related compliance.
- Data-driven leader with strong analytical skills and experience with global KPI dashboards and logistics analytics. Experience with lean/continuous improvement and network optimization in logistics or supply chain.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, comfortable engaging with senior leadership and customers.
- Proven track record in large industrial, Aerospace, or complex manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant logistics/ERP/WMS and analytics tools.
Working Conditions:
- On-site role based in Evendale, OH, with regular presence in warehouse and distribution environments.
- Flexibility to support global time zones and critical shipments as needed.
- Periodic international and domestic travel to distribution centers, 3PLs, and key customer locations.
