What does a successful Release Train Engineer do at Fiserv?
A Release Train Engineer (RTE) plays a key role in Agile frameworks, particularly in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). The RTE oversees a group of teams called the Agile Release Train (ART), which work together to deliver value consistently. The RTE’s job is to ensure that everything runs smoothly, teams stay aligned, and they meet the organization’s goals. RTEs also Identify and resolve impediments raised from anywhere within the ART, delivering training and mentoring when required for everyone involved to ensure a smooth delivery mechanism from Product inception through to business realization.
What you will do:
- Responsible for facilitating Program Increment (PI) planning sessions, ensuring that all teams are aligned with the program’s objectives.
- Manage the flow of value through the Agile Release Train (ART) by working with Product Management, Product Owners, Scrum Masters and other stakeholders.
- Lead the relentless improvement of the ART and the solution development process.
- Foster collaboration between teams, stakeholders, and other ARTs to ensure that dependencies and integration points are managed effectively.
- Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets. Lead workshops to review the increment and identify areas for improvement, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Track the execution of features and capabilities, and they facilitate synchronization meetings.
- Responsible for communicating status, progress, and impediments to stakeholders.
- Identifying and escalating risks throughout the PI. Support governance and compliance requirements, ensuring that the ART adheres to the necessary standards and procedures.
What you will need to have:
- Relevant experience in Scrum Master role with CSM Certification
- Extensive Agile experience
- Expert in creating meaningful reporting using metrics and empirical measurements
- Expert knowledge in Jira Kanban and Scrum
- Quality-focused, with attention to detail, good use of language (proficient with Word, Excel PowerPoint, Visio), familiarity with Jira and Confluence tools
