Electrical Engineering Intern
Position Description:
KBR is seeking a Semiconductor Device Research Intern for a summer project at AFRL. The project will involve fabrication of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor devices in a cleanroom environment and/or electrical characterization of fabricated devices. The selected candidate will learn the processes related to fabrication of microelectronics and will be tasked with designing and fabricating devices such as field effect transistors (FETs) and diodes; in addition, the selected candidate will apply concepts of solid-state physics to analyze the behavior and performance of their devices from electrical test data. Candidates are not required to have previous knowledge of semiconductor physics, but the ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for learning and applying new concepts in a laboratory environment.
Required Experience:
- Must be a US citizen and meet Air Force Research Laboratory requirements to access Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Required Education: Completed at least junior year of high school or equivalent prior to expected start date. Enrolled in or expected to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
Desired skills: Working knowledge of basic calculus and physics (high school level). Experience with data acquisition and analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Skills in MATLAB/Python or similar software. Proficiency in design of experiments.
