The Role
The Global Communications team is searching for a talented Communications professional to play a critical role in helping drive external awareness and publicity for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and its brands, with a focus on U.S. and Canadian media relations.
The Sr. Manager, Corporate Communications position requires the individual be a skilled communicator, capable of developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with influential media while at times navigating a complex global structure across multiple time zones and cultures. The role offers exposure and interaction with the highest levels of the organization, requiring accountability, poise, and professionalism at all times. Successfully managing and meeting varied and competing deadlines is a must. The role reports to the Vice President, External Communications.
Day-to-day activities include but may not be limited to development and execution of brand campaigns, agency management, pitch development; press release drafting; media research; media relationship management; crisis/reputation management support and media monitoring and reporting. The role requires close collaboration with key departments throughout the organization, including Development, Investor Relations, Operations, Marketing, Legal, among others.
Given the nature of the 24-hour media landscape and the Communications department’s global remit, the position requires the candidate to be flexible and available in the event of crisis situations, company events or timely media inquiries.
What You'll Do
- Media Relations – Build, maintain and leverage relationships with top tier business, consumer and trade media to drive publicity around both Wyndham and its 25 brands, including new initiatives, partnerships, key hotel openings, promotions and other milestones. Includes drafting and distributing media pitches, press releases, messaging toolkits and more.
- Crisis Communications – Protect the reputation of Wyndham and its 25 brands among key stakeholders through support of the Company’s global Crisis Communications policies. Includes developing reactive statements for media and, when necessary, providing Communications counsel to Wyndham’s franchisees.
- Global Team Management – Assist the Vice President of External Communications in proactively managing and coordinating external announcements with Wyndham’s regional Communications teams around the globe. Includes review of all press releases with opportunity to influence overall strategy and messaging.
- Agency Management – Day-to-day co-management and oversight of Wyndham’s North American PR agency. Includes working with agency partners to strategize, develop and execute plans and around major announcements and other events.
- Thought Leadership – Proactively place Wyndham leadership in speaking roles, both inside and outside of the industry. Develop and coach leadership on key messaging and best practices. Maintain key documents such as the Company’s corporate narrative to ensure company-wide alignment on key speaking points.

Required Qualifications/Experience
- 6-8 years of experience in Public Relations, Media Relations or Corporate Communications.
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Journalism, English, or Communications preferred.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Experience with media research, monitoring and distribution platforms (MuckRack, Cision, etc.).
- High proficiency in social and digital media.
- WordPress experience a plus.
- Photoshop/graphic design/video editing/audio editing experience a plus.
- Experience in travel or hospitality preferred.
